Celebrating Corey Grier: A Life of Recovery, Service, and Impact 🌟
Last Wednesday evening at Del Frisco’s in Boston, Gosnold was proud to honor Corey Grier as the 2025 recipient of the Martin J. Walsh Alumni Award! Corey’s journey is one of perseverance, and extraordinary service to others, and a powerful example of the life-changing impact of recovery.
Corey entered Gosnold for detox on June 23, 2003, at a time when addiction to alcohol, opioids, and other substances had taken hold of his life. Immersed in a punk rock lifestyle and facing the loss of steady work due to his behavior, Corey reached a critical turning point. Through Gosnold, he found the support that helped save his life and set him on a new path forward.
Fully committed to recovery, Corey embraced sobriety and became active in Alcoholics Anonymous, building a foundation grounded in accountability, purpose, and service. In early sobriety, he worked with individuals with developmental disabilities before joining the Boston Public Health Commission’s Homeless Services Bureau as a case manager in 2004. Over the next two decades, Corey dedicated his career to serving Boston’s most vulnerable populations, eventually rising to the role of Director of Strategic Planning and Partnerships.
Throughout more than 20 years of service, Corey has helped thousands of individuals access care, stability, and hope, all while maintaining his own sobriety. When the bridge to the Long Island Shelter closed, Corey worked tirelessly to ensure there was no interruption in services for those who depended on them, exemplifying leadership, compassion, and unwavering commitment.
From patient to public servant, Corey’s story is a profound testament to resilience, recovery, and giving back. Gosnold is honored to celebrate Corey Grier and present him with this extremely well-deserved Martin J. Walsh Alumni Award, recognizing the lasting impact he continues to make every day.
