What I was thinking about this morning… it’s kind of like which came first — the 🐓 or the 🥚

Your nervous system isn’t controlled by your mind nearly as much as you think. 🧠

✨ Did you know: about 80% of the signals in your vagus nerve travel from your body to your brain — not the other way around.

Meaning: your body is constantly telling your brain how safe (or stressed) you are.

So regulation doesn’t always start with “positive thinking.”
It starts with sensation.

I was thinking about this because I recently restarted yoga 🧘🏽‍♀️ and it’s been such a positive experience for me (no surprise there). But honestly, I don’t think I was feeling 💯 emotionally or spiritually before I went. I was/am doing a lot. There was a tiny whisper to go mentally… but more so an inclination to begrudgingly put one foot in front of the other physically. (I always resist at first!)

Meaning: I was physically there before I was mentally there.
And now I’m feeling the mood benefits.

Breathing slower.
Feeling your feet.
Letting your shoulders drop.
Noticing warmth, texture, sound, light.

Seek out physical experiences of peace .. they send powerful messages of safety 🕊️ upstream.

Breathe. Move. Notice. Ground. Quiet. Soften. Your body knows the way back to calm. 🤍
