The first snow is always so delightful!

On Tuesday, we received our first snow of the season, and today, we had a beautiful sunny day to enjoy it. Many residents have put out holiday decorations (including the village along the Main Lodge Dining Room), and others have embraced the outdoors wasting no time in carving out a cross country ski trail.

Meanwhile, for some of us, it's our very first Maine snow EVER! Heidi, our newest golden doodle resident from the south, couldn't get enough playtime in the snow.

So great to see the spotlight on last week's celebration of our Expansion and Modernization project!

We were so grateful to be joined by Dr. Nirav Shah, former director of the Maine CDC, as well as many members of our construction team, including Zachau Construction Inc., Bath Savings, Mancini Electric, Storey Brothers Excavating, and Gawron Turgeon Dillon Architects. The new project, expected for completion by the end of 2026, will bring 34 new solar-powered all-electric apartments and three new cottages to the community, and it reflects our continued commitment to sustainability. Read more here in Mainebiz!

The project will add 34 apartments and three independent cottages. The new residences will run on solar power, relying on a combination of on-campus rooftop panels and generation from two solar farms.

We were so proud to be featured in the Portland Press Herald's Aging in Maine series, and have the spotlight shine on Sherlyn, one of our awesome residents who is healthy, active, and social, and enjoys being in a welcoming community with a calendar full of activities to choose from, including trips to plays, musicals, and the Portland Sea Dogs.

Being able to live in an active community and see so many people every day has helped raise her spirits and energy. “I meet a lot of people who have very uplifting attitudes and live life to the fullest."

There are ways to prepare for the difficult decisions people may need to make as they get older and become unable to live as independently as they once did.
