🌧 December is Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) Awareness Month 🌤

Did you know that about 5% of the U.S. population experiences Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) — a form of depression that often appears during the darker, colder months? Rates tend to rise the farther you live from the equator.

As the holidays approach, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and cheer, but remember — not everyone feels the same way this time of year. Check in on your loved ones, offer a kind word, and remind them they’re not alone.

✨ Less than two weeks until the days start getting longer — hang in there, brighter days are coming! ✨

Alzheimer’s Awareness Month
Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive, neurodegenerative disorder that affects memory, thinking, and behavior. It is the most common form of dementia, impacting millions of individuals and families worldwide.

Prevalence:

An estimated 7.2 million Americans aged 65 and older are living with Alzheimer’s disease.
This represents about 1 in 9 people in this age group.
Demographics:

Women are more likely to have Alzheimer’s than men, accounting for 64% of cases.
The majority of people with Alzheimer’s (74%) are aged 75 or older.
Racial and ethnic minorities are disproportionately affected.
While there is currently no guaranteed way to prevent Alzheimer’s disease, certain lifestyle choices may help reduce the risk:

Maintain a healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet, regular exercise, and good sleep hygiene.
Manage stress effectively.
Engage in cognitive activities such as puzzles, games, and reading to keep the mind active.
This Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, take time to learn, share, and support those affected by this condition. Together, awareness can lead to understanding, compassion, and hope
