Celebrating National Women’s History Month

March is Women’s History Month we’re excited to honor the trailblazing women who have shaped the dental profession.

Lucy Beaman Hobbs Taylor (1833–1910) made history as the first woman to earn a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, graduating from the Ohio College of Dental Surgery in 1866. After being denied admission to dental schools because of her gender, she opened her own practice in Iowa in 1861—proving that determination and passion can break any barrier.

Her courage and perseverance paved the way for generations of women in dentistry. Today, we celebrate her legacy and all the women continuing to inspire progress in the field.

Here in North America, that moment is sprinkled with a bit of magic thanks to the Tooth Fairy! 🧚‍♀️ But around the world, traditions take a different — and delightful — turn.

In India children don’t tuck their teeth under pillows. Instead, they throw them!

🦷 If the tooth came from the top row, it’s tossed toward the floor.
🦷 If it came from the bottom row, it’s thrown toward the roof.

A simple, playful ritual that connects childhood wonder with age-old customs — celebrating the moment when a “baby” becomes a “big kid.” ✨
