Hello from the lady behind Yes Yoga. Hope everyone had some good holiday fun. I’m gonna be honest, I’m glad the holidays are over, but we had some good moments in my house, like this one when I didn’t want my picture taken and Leif had already taken about 6,000 in a half a second. His devilish laugh when he does stuff like that is irresistible. 2026 has already presented us with some real stressors, so here’s a brief list of suggestions for landing back in joy and presence (which is why I do yoga):

- put on soft pajama pants whenever possible

- leave up your Christmas tree till February and your Christmas lights all year if you enjoy them

- sign up for something - a class, a group, a workshop, a meetup, anything that involves being with other people at a specified time - note that signing up makes it more likely that you’ll go.

- go outside in all seasons, preferably to someplace that has water.

- find little ways to be generous. an easy place to start is with your server the next time you enjoy a meal out.

- give a child your camera for 30 seconds

“Impression” of a Pose
(at a trampoline park)
When practicing, do you ever let go of alignment details and feel how the general shape is affecting you? At times, we delve into details as we hold a pose; at other times, we visit a pose so briefly that we only have time to get an impression of it before coming out, like an artist making a quick sketch or the effect of an impressionistic painting. No chance to get tangled in the details; just the (approximation of the) essence of the pose. Whether you imagine yourself the artist penciling a sketch or a painting in Monet’s style, practice on! To keep it fresh, change up your approach from time to time, sometimes making sketches or blurry paintings of the poses and other times crafting detailed, fine line drawings. It’s all about what keeps you engaged.
