Memorial Funeral Home

Memorial Funeral Home Family owned and operated by the Keiser family since 1928, Memorial Funeral Home is a non-sectarian funeral home located in central New Jersey.

High & Harold Funeral Directors opened in 1918 as a storefront funeral parlor on East Front Street in Plainfield. At that time, most services were held at the family home. In 1928, Thomas C. Keiser, a World War I Veteran from Wilkes-Barre, Pa., bought the business from John High and changed the name to Memorial Funeral Home. Shortly thereafter, the business moved to the former Bower Estate at the

corner of East 7th Street and Franklin Place where the remodeled Victorian mansion served as a “modern” funeral home. In 1958, Thomas M. Keiser joined his father in business and succeeded his father as President upon his retirement in 1963. In 1980, Memorial Funeral Home opened a branch in nearby Fanwood. The third generation, Thomas M. Keiser, Jr., now owns and manages the funeral home at its present location in Fanwood.

We’re incredibly proud to share that one of our very own funeral directors, Ryan Tombs, and his dog, Bailey have officially become a certified therapy dog team! 🐶💚

After months of training with K9 Kim in Roselle and certification through AIR Dogs (a program that focuses on visiting schools), Ryan and Bailey are now ready to offer comfort, support, and a warm presence to the families we serve.

Bailey will be available at the funeral home for any family who wishes to include a little extra comfort in their time of need. You’ll also be seeing them out and about at local street fairs, nursing homes, hospice centers, and hospitals—spreading love and bringing smiles wherever they go.

Please join us in congratulating Ryan and Bailey on this wonderful accomplishment—we’re so lucky to have them as part of our team. 🐾💙

One of our funeral directors, Ryan Tombs and his dog Bailey are starting on their journey in becoming a therapy dog team! She will be available as requested by the families we serve. Also, look for them at all the Spring, Summer and Fall local town events like Fannywood day, Garwood Rocks and Festifall!

A little bit about Bailey- She is a 6yr old Great Pyrenees/ Australian Shepherd mix that Ryan and his family rescued. Bailey was rescued from Georgia. She has been through multiple training classes with K9 Kim in Roselle Park and is currently enrolled in the Intro To Animal Assisted Therapy program. Bailey enjoys spending time with her brother, Rowan, car rides and exploring in the woods.

We look forward to adding Bailey to the Memorial Funeral Home team!
