Massage can be dehydrating because it increases blood flow, causes sweating, and muscle manipulation can force fluids out of soft tissue. Drinking water helps replenish fluids and prevent symptoms like headaches, fatigue, and aches and pains.

Flushing out toxins
Massage can cause the body to release toxins, such as water, salt, and minerals, from muscles. Drinking water helps the body's natural processes remove these toxins through the kidneys and liver, which can help prevent nausea, soreness, and sluggishness.

Supporting muscle recovery
Drinking water helps maintain circulation and blood flow, which is important for delivering nutrients and oxygen to muscles and organs to support healing and recovery.

Lotion? Cream? Oil?

When giving a massage there are different approaches you can take.

One being the type of product used during the session, if any. When giving a massage without product it allows us to work with clients who don't have a lot of time or are uncomfortable un******ng. You can also incorporate stretching and compression into your massage.

If you want to stay deep and still get in some stretches using cream to soften the skin but keep a good stick is your option, while lotion will give a glide to the massage. And, oils help give a relaxing flow or a faster tempo massage.

Myth #1: Massage is Only for Pampering. ...Although its true that massages do FEEL luxurious, they are much more than a treat. Research has shown that regular massage lowers cortisol levels, decreases BP, increases immune function, improves mental states, and decreases chronic pain.

Myth #2: Every Massage is the Same. ...Each massage style serves a unique purpose. There are up to 30 distinct massage therapies commonly recognized and practiced. This diversity means that whether you're an athlete, pregnant, or dealing with chronic pain, there is a specific massage modality suited for your individual needs.

Myth #3: Massage Should Always Hurt to Be Effective. ...Effective massage should involve a level of pressure that is comfortable and beneficial. Your LMT should be checking in with you about your "perfect" pressure level. Effectiveness is NOT measured by the degree of pain.

Our bodies have connective tissue all throughout it helping hold everything together. This connective tissue is called fascia and it’s affected by the sense of motion, or lack thereof. Daily life, exercise, and stretching are all things we have to do in order to keep moving, so why not do some self care as well.
