Some of my favorite sunrises and sunsets have happened on the shore of Lake Superior. This one in particular was Labor Day weekend 2025 after experiencing some pretty intense grief work. It's taken in the parking lot at the harbor in Grand Marais, a place I return to often when I’m there.
A harbor is a place where water softens and movement slows. Where boats are held safely while they rest, repair, or wait for the right moment to move again. It isn’t the final destination, but rather a pause. A place to recalibrate before heading back into open water.
That’s what the North Shore feels like to me and it’s what this retreat is meant to offer. Space to come in from the constant motion of life. To let your nervous system settle and be held by the land, the water, and a small group of women without needing to explain or perform.
You don’t come to a harbor because something is wrong. You come because rest is part of the journey and tending to yourself matters. Knowing when to pause is its own kind of wisdom.
If you’ve been craving that kind of space, I’m hosting a four-day women’s retreat on the North Shore of Lake Superior, October 1–4, 2026. Think cozy mornings, honest conversations, movement, breath, and the quiet clarity that comes from being near water.
If this image stirred something in you, trust that.
