The Hiker’s Guide to Avoiding Aches this Fall!
Whether it’s a casual Red River trail or a weekend with some hills, hiking can take a toll on knees, hips, and backs. After your summer fun, your body needs a little recovery love. Here are 4 quick post-activity stretches to help prevent soreness and keep you moving strong:

✔️ Hamstrings – Reach for your toes (seated or standing) to loosen the back of your legs.
✔️ Hip Flexors – Kneel with one foot forward, lean gently to open tight hips.
✔️ Calves – Press into a wall or curb to stretch one leg at a time.
✔️ Chest – Clasp hands behind your back and lift to reverse hunching.

Your muscles will thank you tomorrow. Stay flexible, stay injury-free!

Stretch of the Week # 2: Upper Trapezius Stretch 🙆

This one’s perfect for anyone who spends long hours at a desk or looking down at their phone. Sit or stand tall, then gently tilt your head to one side, bringing your ear toward your shoulder. You’ll feel a nice stretch along the side of your neck. Hold for 20–30 seconds, then switch to the other side.
A simple way to ease tension and keep moving strong!

We just celebrated 15 years of Bodyworks Physical Therapy and we're not stopping there—October is National PT Month! We are excited to highlight all of the ways that physical therapy helps people live stronger, healthier lives. PT isn’t just about recovering from an injury; it is also about prevention, performance, and long-term wellness.

To keep the celebration moving, we’re launching a special Stretch of the Week series all month long! Each week in October, we’ll share a simple stretch you can try at home to keep your body moving and feeling strong.

We’re kicking it off with a Hamstring Stretch: Sit on the edge of a chair or on the floor with one leg out straight. Keep your back tall and gently lean forward at the hips until you feel a stretch along the back of your thigh. Hold for 20–30 seconds, then switch sides.

Fall sports season is here, and we couldn’t be more excited to see athletes back on the field, court, and course! But with the excitement comes the risk of injuries, especially when athletes push through aches and pains without slowing down. 🏉🏐

The truth is, those little twinges can sometimes turn into bigger problems if ignored. Physical therapy can make a huge difference by keeping young athletes safe, strong, and confident in their movement. From improving flexibility and balance to addressing soreness before it sidelines them, PT helps athletes perform at their best while staying healthy.

Let’s cheer them on this season, not just for how they play, but for how they care for their bodies, too!👏

Some of you got a sneak peek of dry needling at our 15 Years of Relief celebration, but what is it really?

Dry needling uses thin needles to release tight muscle knots, improve blood flow, and ease pain. That quick “twitch” response you might feel is your muscle fibers relaxing and letting go of tension. It can be especially helpful for back or neck pain, headaches, or lingering joint and muscle issues—often alongside exercise and other PT techniques.

Curious if it could help you? Let’s talk!

Sharp pain, tingling, or numbness down your arm or leg might be more than just a pinched nerve. While muscle tightness, poor posture, or repetitive movements can cause nerve pressure, symptoms can also signal conditions like herniated discs, arthritis, or nerve compression. Physical therapy can help relieve discomfort and address the underlying cause, getting you back to feeling your best!

At Bodyworks Physical Therapy, we believe that aging is a journey, not a destination. This month, we're focusing on empowering individuals to embrace healthy aging through movement, mindfulness, and whole-person care.

As we age, it's essential to stay active, nourish our bodies with balanced nutrition, and maintain strong social connections. Regular physical activity, such as walking, stretching, or yoga, can enhance mobility, reduce the risk of chronic conditions, and improve mental well-being. Let's celebrate the positive aspects of growing older and commit to living our healthiest lives.
