We have another original sponsored rider coming back for 2026!

Leah has spent the last few years rebuilding her lineup of horses and they are finally getting to go out there and compete! She had a phenomenal 2025 season on her main horse Sepp, winning several prizes, buckles, and checks!

Leah is a nursing student at Jamestown University so between horses and school, she stays pretty busy. Even with her full schedule, she finds time to read books and help run her family farm.

She really hopes to enter her first slot race next year and attend a few of the larger races now that her horses are seasoned like a nice piece of ribeye 🥩.

Getting to welcome back this sister duo to the team for 2026! These ladies are HUNGRY to succeed next year and I can’t wait for them to achieve their big goals.

Kinley hopes to make it to High School Nationals, the short go at Hooey JR Patriot, and also clean runs at the Extreme Millions in Waco next year. She has found a new hobby, wake boarding, and can often be found spending time at the lake with family (for the ten seconds a day she’s not with her horses 😉).

Kaylee’s goals are to win a year end title for NDRA, get her pro card, and win a little bit of money on her futurity horse. Kaylee is constantly seeking more knowledge about horses and is highly trained in a few equine therapies herself, such as acuscope.

I hope you are all enjoying warm Texas for now but I can’t wait for you guys to come back to ND and kick some butt come spring!

Is it really the Moving Forward Team without Kinley Shipp? I think not. 😉

Welcoming this boss babe, and of course her main mount Ruby, back to the team for 2026. Kinley has some big goals for rodeos, jackpots, and the Pink Buckle for next year that I hope to help her achieve!

Fun fact: She’s been on my team every year from the very first year!

Update— I will be available for Jamestown this Sunday. I will be traveling back and forth from Fargo so can make a stop along the way if it isn’t too far off the interstate. Please contact me asap to get on the list!

My last sponsored rider for a highlight this season goes to Bobbie Jo!
Some seasons are full of wins and glamour. Others are ones that you are getting young horses going as well as limiting how much you haul your old seasoned pros, saving their legs, and cherishing each run as if it’s their last. Seeing Bobbie always put the health and happiness of her horses first has been a huge factor in her being on the team each year. I hope to see her back for the 2026 team so this is her *gentle* reminder to send in her application 😉

Sponsorship applications are due tomorrow!!! Team will be announced throughout the NFR! Contact me if you’d like an application and I’ll get it emailed asap!

Nikki is no stranger to training barrel horses. You can often see her year after year seasoning young horses and making them one of the greats! Each time I am so amazed at how far she can bring a horse along in just a few short months. I can’t wait to see which horses she has lined up for the 2026 season!

Sponsor highlight:
Dianna is quite the busy lady between running barrels, owning a small business, and spending quality time with friends and family. You can often see her business, A Little Bit Country LLC, set up at events and sponsoring many local races. It’s been a pleasure having her on the team for several years!

We are officially one week away from when sponsorship applications are due! ❤️

🔥Sponsor highlight 🔥
Kinley has been CRUSHING it down south with her horses. It’s hard to find a cowgirl that works and breathes horses as much as this young lady. Plus who doesnt love a nice up and coming stallion—KT KISSLIKEAMAN!! Make sure you check him out at Rafter F Equine LLC if you’re looking to breed to a stud that is athletic, smart, personable, AND an absolute pleasure to be around! He’s one of my favorites to work on all year (and is the one I start with alone if a certain mom forgets to put the appointment in the calendar 😆).

Remember to get those sponsorship forms in December 1st! I’ve already had so many wonderful applicants send theirs in. ❤️❤️❤️

With this serious outbreak, I will be unavailable for travel until December. I want to be proactive and do my part in limiting this spread as fast as possible. As always, the health of the animals is my top priority! Please stay safe and pray for all of those affected. 🙏

Edited to add:
BVEH NAVASOTA HAS NO CASES ONSITE IN NAVASOTA. It is safe to bring your horse for their normal appointments, we will have additional biosecurity protocols before and in between appointments. We are working to set up an offsite location to triage potential sick horses. We will have updates tomorrow for you. Dr. Buchanan will go live here on Facebook at 8:15am tomorrow (Wednesday) morning.

BVEH Advisory:

EHV-1 Cases in Horses Returning From a Recent Event

Brazos Valley Equine Hospitals wants to notify horse owners that we are aware of multiple confirmed cases of EHV-1 in surrounding hospitals, and several suspected cases including several horses with neurologic signs (EHM) currently being diagnosed in the barrel horse community. BVEH has not admitted and is not treating and EHV or EHM cases.

The State of Texas Animal Health Commission is aware of the outbreak.

At this time, 5–10 horses are known to us to be sick, but the true number is likely higher as many cases go unreported.

What Horse Owners Should Do Right Now:

1. Keep all horses at home!
Please avoid hauling, clinics, lessons, shows, or mingling horses for the next several weeks until more information is available.

Movement is the #1 factor that spreads EHV-1.
________________________________________

2. Check temperatures twice daily!
Fever is usually the first sign (often before nasal discharge or neurologic symptoms).
• Temp at or above 101.5°F = call your veterinarian.
________________________________________

3. Notify your veterinarian immediately if your horse exhibits:
• Fever
• Weakness or incoordination
• Standing with hindlimbs wide
• Tail tone changes
• Difficulty urinating
• Lethargy or decreased appetite

Early intervention improves outcomes.
________________________________________

4. Discuss treatment options with your veterinarian.

For febrile or exposed horses, your vet may recommend:
• Valacyclovir
• Aspirin or other anti-thrombotics
• Anti-inflammatories
• Supportive care

(These should only be used under veterinary direction.)
________________________________________

5. Biosecurity matters.
• Do not share water buckets, hoses, tack, grooming tools, or stalls.
• Disinfect trailers, thermometers, and crossties.
• Isolate any horse with fever immediately.
________________________________________

About Vaccination.

Current evidence shows vaccines do not prevent EHM, but they can reduce viral shedding and shorten viremia, which lowers barn-wide spread and is important to the community.

Boosters are helpful when:
• A horse was vaccinated > 90 days ago, or
• You are preparing for high-risk environments (events, hauling, mixing populations).

What the research shows:
• Booster vaccination increases IgG1 and IgG4/7, the antibody classes linked with limiting viremia.
• Reduced viremia = reduced likelihood of severe disease and decreased transmission.
• Boosters are most effective in younger horses, previously vaccinated horses, and non-pregnant horses.

Vaccines do NOT stop a horse already incubating EHV-1 from developing signs, and they do not eliminate the risk of neurologic disease. For horses already exposed or febrile, do not vaccinate until cleared by your veterinarian.
________________________________________

We Will Continue to Update You!

BVEH is actively monitoring cases and communicating with veterinarians across Texas and neighboring states. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available. If your horse is showing fever or any neurologic signs, please contact your veterinarian or call BVEH immediately.

Please ask any questions in this post and we will work to answer them quickly. Stay tuned for additional updates, including a Live Q and A with Dr. Ben Buchanan tomorrow (Wednesday).

We have documents on our website www.bveh.com specific to EHV and biosecurity. Additional resources included below.

Stay safe, monitor closely, and thank you for helping limit the spread.

I love being able to give back to such a wonderful program ❤️ happy retirement Cowboy!

✨ A Big Thank You to Cowboy! ✨
Today our sweet Cowboy — a cherished program horse of TR 4 Heart & Soul — enjoyed some well-deserved VIP treatment, including a chiropractic adjustment from our amazing program sponsor, Moving Forward Chiropractic. We are so grateful for the care, kindness, and support Hannah continues to show our herd.
Cowboy has given his heart to so many riders over the years, offering patience, strength, and unconditional love. As he steps into a gentle and well-earned retirement, he’ll be heading back home to spend his best days with his loving owner, Rowan Hice. 🩷
Thank you, Cowboy, for everything you’ve done for our program and for the countless lives you’ve touched. Enjoy your retirement, sweet boy — you’ve earned every moment of peace, sunshine, and pasture naps.

🌟Drop YOUR fav photo of Cowboy in the comments!

Hadley is my “tough luck” 2025 sponsored rider. She overcame great obstacles in 2024 and definitely had to overcome many this year as well! She’s been trying her hand at cutting and what do you know?
