They say all good things must come to an end...

Please be advised that our office, Move Chiropractic, will be closing as of 11/30/2024, as I have been called to serve our community in a different light and have been hired on as the Executive Director with the West Fargo Park District. Effective 12/01/2024, my practice will be sold to Endurance Sport and Spine and Dr. Kirsten Svaleson. To ensure a smooth transition and introduce Dr. Svaleson to my many patients, I will be staying on until 11/30/2024. I will not be in the office after that date.

You can make an appointment to see Dr. Svaleson here: https://www.endurancefargo.com/book-an-appointment

If you make an appointment to see Dr. Svaleson before my last day in office, and/or would like me to discuss your file with her, please email me at dramy@movechirond.com and I will get an authorization form allowing me to do so sent to you to be signed.

I want Dr. Svaleson to be familiar with your records so she will be fully prepared to treat you from her first day taking over my office. I have confidence in Dr. Svaleson and hope you will consider allowing her to become her new doctor.

If, for whatever reason, you decide to be treated elsewhere, I will be happy to provide your new provider with copies of the necessary records from your file upon request before 11/30/2024. After 11/30/2024, Dr. Kirsten Svaleson at Endurance Sport and Spine will maintain your records and will be able to provide any alternative provider copies of your records upon request.

I will be doing a bulk order of supplements in the coming week. If you would like something specific, please let me know so I can get this ordered for you!

Our commercial space will also be up for rent- and we’d sure love your help spreading the word to those who may be interested.

Thank you for trusting me to serve you these last fourteen years. It has been an absolute pleasure and honor to be trusted with your care, and often the care of your family, friends, and coworkers. I will miss practice, and particularly the patients I have had the opportunity to interact with day in and day out. My new office will be at the Rustad Recreation Center starting the first week of December- please feel free to stop in and say hi and come walk some laps around the indoor track!

🎀🌸 Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Early Detection Saves Lives 🌸🎀

Hello everyone! October is here, and it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is a crucial time to spread awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection. Here’s what you need to know:

🩺 Understanding Breast Cancer 🩺

Breast cancer occurs when cells in the breast tissue grow uncontrollably. It can start in different parts of the breast, including the ducts (invasive ductal carcinoma or lobules (invasive lobular carcinoma). Early detectio can significantly increase treatment success and survival rates.

🔍 Key Facts & Statistics 🔍

1. Prevalence: Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide, but it can also affect men.

2. Risk Factors: Factors include age, family history, genetics (such as BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations), hormonal factors, and lifestyle.

3. Early Detection: Regular screenings, such as mammograms, can detect breast cancer early before symptoms appear. Self-exams and clinical exams are also crucial.

💗 Prevention & Screening Recommendations 💗

1. Self-Exams: Perform monthly breast self-exams to become familiar with your normal breast tissue. Report any changes to your healthcare provider. 👐

2. Clinical Exams: Have a clinical breast exam by a healthcare professional at least every three years if you’re in your 20s or 30s, and annually after age 40. 🩺

3. Mammograms: Follow your doctor’s recommendations for mammograms. Women aged 40 and over should discuss with their doctor when to start and how often to have mammograms. 📅

4. Lifestyle Choices: Maintain a healthy weight, exercise regularly, and limit alcohol consumption to lower your risk. 🥦🏃‍♀️🍷

🗣️ Get Involved 🗣️

Support Breast Cancer Awareness Month by sharing this information, encouraging loved ones to get screened, and participating in local events or fundraisers. Every action helps in the fight against breast cancer.

Let’s work together to spread awareness and support those affected by breast cancer. 💪💗

🍂📚 Fall Fact: How to Rake Leaves Without Raking Your Back 📚🍂

Hey everyone! As we dive into fall, many of us are gearing up for raking leaves. But did you know that improper raking techniques can lead to low back pain? 😱🌿

Evidence-Based Tips for Ergonomic Raking:

1. Proper Posture: Stand up straight with your feet shoulder-width apart. Keep your back neutral and bend at the knees, not the waist, to protect your spine. 🏃‍♂️🌳

2. Use a Lightweight Rake: A lighter rake reduces strain on your back and arms. Choose one with a long handle to avoid bending over too much. 🎋✨

3. Take Frequent Breaks: Don’t overdo it! Regular breaks help prevent muscle fatigue and back strain. Take a moment to stretch and hydrate. 🥤💪

4. Engage Your Core: Tighten your abdominal muscles while raking to provide extra support to your lower back. This helps distribute the load more evenly. 💪🌟

5. Alternate Sides: Switch sides frequently to avoid repetitive strain on one side of your body. It’s like giving your back a mini-vacation! 🌈🧘‍♀️

Taking these steps can help you enjoy your fall chores without the added discomfort. If you’re already feeling the effects of raking or just want to keep your spine in tip-top shape, schedule a visit. We’re here to help you stay healthy and pain-free this season!

Call or text: 701-799-4362, or visit our website (www.movechirond.com) and click "Book Appointment". If you have never used our online booking platform, but are an existing patient, look up your account with your phone number to log in!

Hey everyone! As the leaves start to fall and the pumpkin spice takes over, just a friendly reminder: your back might be feeling a bit more “crunchy” than those autumn leaves. 🍁😅

If you’re bending over to rake leaves or just getting cozy on the couch with your favorite fall TV shows, don’t let low back pain sneak up on you like a rogue squirrel! 🦃💥

Swing by for an adjustment before those autumn activities leave you feeling like a human pretzel. Your spine will thank you, and you’ll be able to enjoy all the fall festivities pain-free!

Reminder, we are out of the office September 27th-October 6th. Book your appointment now—because even your back deserves a little fall TLC! 🍂🧡

Call or text: 701-799-4362, or visit our website (www.movechirond.com) and click "Book Appointment". If you have never used our online booking platform, but are an existing patient, look up your account with your phone number to log in!

🥄🍲 Zucchini Soup Recipe: Perfect for Your Garden’s Bounty! 🍲🥄

Hey everyone! If you’re swimming in zucchinis from your garden like us, we’ve got a delicious and easy recipe that’ll help you use them up and warm you up on a cool fall day. 🍂✨

🌿 Zucchini Garden Soup 🌿

Ingredients:

4 cups chopped zucchini (about 4 medium zucchinis)
1 large onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 large carrot, sliced
1 celery stalk, diced
4 cups vegetable broth
1 cup diced tomatoes (canned or fresh)
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons olive oil
Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

1. Sauté the Veggies: In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes. 🥕🧅

2. Add Zucchini: Stir in the chopped zucchini and cook for another 5 minutes. 🥒

3. Pour in Broth and Tomatoes: Add the vegetable broth, diced tomatoes, basil, and thyme. Bring to a boil. 🔥

4. Simmer: Reduce heat and let it simmer for 20 minutes, or until all vegetables are tender. 🕑

5. Season and Serve: Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Enjoy hot!
