Our local EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) peer group hosted a lunch and learn event today with our own ND EFT expert Dr. Dave Jackson. Dr. Jackson shared an overview of EFT with clinicians in our area who were looking to learn more about EFT. I’m so excited that this transformative therapy is starting to take root in our community.

It might only be a little piece of paper but it means more to me than most will understand. It only took 3 years and 14 days to get here, but I’m officially certified as an Emotionally Focused Couples therapist and only the 4th to earn this distinction in ND. I’m proud to carry on the work started by Dr. Sue Johnson and honored to work with couples to repair emotional ties and strengthen connection (and a whole lot more). I have seen relationships transform and I’m excited to be a part of couples relational journey.

This loss deeply touched me. I never had the honor to meet Sue but her work inspired me in my work. She positively impacted people and made a change in the world. And her work and legacy in Emotion Focused Therapy will live on.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Dr. Sue Johnson's passing on April 23, 2024.

Sue's contributions to the world of psychotherapy were enormous. She was a fierce advocate for the power of love and connection in healing and transformation. Sue moved the field of psychotherapy forward through her tireless work, revolutionizing the way we think about relationships, love, attachment, and emotional bonding.

Dr. Sue Johnson will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy will live on in the countless lives and hearts that she touched through her therapy, teachings, and writings. Her impact is far reaching and will continue to be felt for generations to come.

Rest in peace, Sue Johnson. Your light and wisdom will shine on forever.
