5 Toy Safety Tips for the Holidays!
1. Follow Recommendations. Choose toys that are age appropriate. Be sure to follow the toy’s age recommendations, often found on the toy’s box.
2. Beware of Small Parts. Do not buy toys with small parts for young children. Also, check toys for any loose parts that may fall off.
3. Magnets or Button Batteries. Toys with magnets or button batteries should not be purchased. If more than one magnet is ingested, the magnets could attach inside a child’s body, causing serious injury.
4. Avoid Long Cords or Strings. Cords or strings longer than 7 inches could be potential choking hazards.
5. Include Protective Gear. When purchasing bikes, scooters, skateboards and other riding toys that require balance, always buy safety gear.

Today is , and we want to highlight someone truly special: Dr. Jenifer Jones-Dees!

Dr. Jones-Dees helps serve our mission in many capacities. She first joined us as our chapter's Medical Advisor in 2007. As a Chapter Medical Advisor, she acts as a guide to help us navigate the referral process to help establish wish eligibility and to help ensure wish kids are medically safe, regardless of which wish they choose. Jenifer has such a strong understanding of our mission and what our wish kids need, she was asked to be part of the inaugural National Medical Advisor committee as a mentor! She has served in this role since 2016, and she helps guide other Chapter Medical Advisors throughout the plains region of the United States.

On top of her advisory roles and practicing pediatric medicine, Dr. Jones-Dees also serves our mission as a wish granter. For her, wish granting is the fun part and she says helping children discover their one true wish is amazing!

• It may take longer at your appointment as we learn our new system. Please come early and be patient with us.

• Epic does not have all demographic and insurance information. Please remember to bring your insurance cards and be prepared to answer questions at your appointment on or after Sept. 9th.

• You may receive two statements. If you have an owing balance from services received before September 9th, you will receive a statement from our old system until that is paid off. If you have services on or after Sept. 9th, you will receive a statement from Epic.
