Meet Nate, one of our Certified Personal Trainers at Total Balance.

Motivational. Supportive. Committed to helping you get stronger, one rep at a time.

Nate has been a personal trainer for two years and works with athletes and clients to build strength, confidence and long-term consistency. With a sports background, personal training was a natural fit – and it shows in every session.

One of his favorite things to coach is squat progressions – helping clients go from bodyweight to barbell with proper form, control and confidence.

When he’s not training, Nate is coaching high school basketball and soccer, and still finds time to get on the court and field himself.⚽🏀

Winter in the midwest doesn’t have to mean “wipe out.” When the sidewalks are icy and the snow piles up, staying balanced takes a little extra intention.

3 Simple Ways to Stay Steady👣

⏰ Take your time. Give yourself extra buffer time when walking to your car, heading inside or navigating snow-covered sidewalks.
🐧 Walk like a penguin. Shuffling steps, bent knees, arms out. This helps you stay centered and avoid slips.
❄️ Clear walkways or stay put. Sometimes the safest move is to stay warm and keep moving indoors, especially right after snowfall when walkways aren't completely cleared.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving favorites and keep your blood sugar steady? Yes, you can. 🦃

In this special edition of The Dish, we’re breaking down simple, realistic ways to balance your plate without giving up the special Thanksgiving dishes you love.

Here are a few blood-sugar–friendly tips to take into the holiday:
🥔 Add fiber where you can. Think roasted sweet potatoes, brussels sprouts, whole-grain stuffing and extra veggies.
🍒 Go fresh when possible. Homemade cranberry sauce has antioxidants without the extra added sugar.
🍗 Include protein. Lean protein like turkey or chicken helps keep blood sugar steadier as you eat.
🚶‍♀️ Move a little after the meal. Even a 10–15 minute walk supports a healthier post-meal glucose response.

Thanksgiving should feel good, not stressful. A few small tweaks can help you enjoy the whole meal and feel better afterward!
