💚 this "How we met through 4-H story!"

(Holly and Caden's Story)
"Caden and I were both in 4-H at the same time, but opposite ends of the state. Caden was active in various judging contests in Stark-Billings County and I was a ND State Ambassador from Traill County. We did not know each other then.

After graduating college, I became the FCW Extension Agent for Stark-Billings County in 2019. Caden was in Dickinson for the summer before returning to Fargo for his senior year at NDSU. His old 4-H judging coach Kurt and I were co-workers, and Caden stopped by the office to say hi to him. That’s how we met! We started going out that week. Now, six years later, we are married and have 2 kids."

What would 4-H be without our 4-H'ers? We are celebrating their stories during National 4-H Week!

(Stephanie's Story)
"This past year was my very first year in 4-H, and what started as a simple bribe to get a rabbit has blossomed into a passion I absolutely love! For years my mom would ask me about joining, and I never gave it much thought—until the summer before I joined, when we walked through the bunny barn at the state fair. That’s where I saw the rabbit—black and white with striking red eyes. Everyone else thought it looked scary, but I saw something different: unique, majestic, and full of character. From that moment, I was determined! After some convincing, my parents agreed—if I wanted the rabbit, I had to join 4-H and show it. And just like that, my adventure began.

I arranged with a breeder for a Black Himalayan buck, and on August 30, my new best friend was born. I was so excited as I got picture updates and prepared for him—building a cage, gathering supplies, and dreaming about the journey ahead. When November finally came, I met my Apollo for the very first time. It was love at first sight!

Over the next several months, I poured my Head into researching, my Hands into caring and training, my Heart into bonding with Apollo, and my Health into staying committed to our goals. We learned, practiced, and grew together. By June, we were ready for our first big test—Achievement Days. Honestly, I had no idea what to expect and just hoped all of our hard work would be enough. To my surprise and joy, Apollo and I earned Reserve Champion in both Intermediate Rabbit and Intermediate Showmanship! That moment filled me with so much pride, gratitude, and confidence—I’ll never forget it.

Since then, 4-H has opened a whole new world for me. I’ve joined rabbit breeder clubs, shown in ARBA competitions, and am even planning to add a female rabbit to my rabbitry. More importantly, I’ve grown—not just as a rabbit owner, but as a person. 4-H has given me skills, friendships, and memories I’ll treasure forever.

Thank you, 4-H, for sparking this love in me and helping me discover my proudest memory so far. I can’t wait to see what the future holds!"
