šŸŽ„ Taking Care of Your Mental Health During the Holidays šŸŽ„

The holiday season can be a time of joy, connection, and celebration—but it can also bring stress, loneliness, and emotional overwhelm. It’s okay to acknowledge that this season isn’t always easy.

Here are some tips to support your mental well-being:

1ļøāƒ£ Set Realistic Expectations: The holidays don’t have to be perfect. Embrace meaningful moments rather than perfection.

2ļøāƒ£ Manage Stress: Take breaks when you need them, especially from your phone or other devices. Go for a walk (yes, daylight exposure is still important in the winteršŸ™‚), pray, practice mindfulness, or simply breathe deeply.

3ļøāƒ£ Stay Connected: Reach out to supportive friends and family, even if it’s just a quick check-in.

4ļøāƒ£ Practice Self-Compassion: Be kind to yourself. It’s okay to say no and set boundaries.

5ļøāƒ£ Honor Your Feelings: Allow yourself to feel what you’re experiencing without judgment.

Helpful Resources:

Call 211: For confidential help connecting to local services (ND and MN)

Minnesota Warmline: Call or text for peer support at 651-288-0400 or toll-free at 877-404-3190.

Remember, you are not alone. If this season feels especially difficult, reaching out for professional support can be a powerful step toward healing. I would be honored to accompany you on your healing journey.

I wish you peace, love, and blessings during this season!

I hope you had a restful thanksgiving! This is a great time of year to become more intentional about gratitude. Did you know that actively practicing gratitude does not just have psychological benefits, such increased positive emotion, like joy and optimism, but even physical ones (https://greatergood.berkeley.edu/article/item/why_gratitude_is_good)?
Who doesn't want enhanced immunity, sleep and lower blood pressure?? Practicing gratitude focuses on what we already have but take for granted or forget. It is like finding change in your pockets that you forgot about, or a favorite sweater that was hidden your closet. I like to practice gratitude at the very end of my day right before going to bed, it can easily be incorporated into prayer as well.
What has been a positive gratitude practice for you?
