Last Thursday was a bittersweet day as we said farewell to Emily Funk, our Occupational Therapist intern from the UND Occupational Therapy program.

Among many incredible contributions, Emily helped us transform an underutilized space into a much needed, research-based sensory room at Luther Hall. The youth in our care now have a safe, controlled environment to manage stress, anxiety, build social skills, and support emotional and behavioral regulation. These rooms can be particularly beneficial for those with sensory processing differences, ADHD, autism, learning disorders, or other conditions that affect sensory modulation.

Join us in thanking Emily for her time and talent. We wish her the best of luck in her future!

Birds and bunnies to celebrate the beginning of Spring??!! Yes, please!

Our students at Luther Hall took time out of the busy spring break activities to have a coloring contest where they created colorful artwork and enjoyed the time off from school.

Luther Hall is a Nexus Family Healing program that recognizes that sometimes children and teens need a highly structured, safe, and supervised space to recover and grow. Which means the bravest choice you can make is to let them go, at least for a bit. Learn more about our residential programs >> https://buff.ly/TgGDB2r

Not every story of trauma looks the same, but many share something in common: the long road back.

On this episode of "In This Family" podcast, Isaac Fitzgerald shares what it was like growing up surrounded by substance use, violence, and mental health struggles. He also talks about the impact of losing his mother to su***de.

Isaac talks about the people, books, and community that helped him find his way forward and what healing has looked like over time.

It’s a powerful reminder that even in the hardest stories, there can still be connection, meaning, hope, and love.

Who doesn't enjoy a great baking show? We all think that we can do it with a little time and the right tools...right? We're so proud of one of our foster kids who is learning how to use cake skills to enrich her life!

It all started when Charlene*, a youth living in foster care, was having a difficult day. her skills coach Nicole turned frustration into an opportunity for growth – through cake decorating!

What began as resistance transformed into a powerful learning experience. Together, they practiced patience, followed directions, and discovered that it's okay to start over when things don't go as planned. More than just creating a beautiful cake, Charlene gained confidence and valuable life skills that will serve her well into young adulthood.

There are over 1,000 children waiting for a home in our state. Becoming a foster family can feel overwhelming, but it can also be the most rewarding. We have dedicated team members who walk with you during your journey through the initial paperwork and when that is complete a designated social worker will come alongside to take you through the placement of a youth and beyond. Let's talk! >> https://buff.ly/TQLyEIi

It is our belief that untreated mental health issues are a significant barrier to learning and educational success. Placing children’s behavioral health services in schools provides a great opportunity for mental health promotion, prevention and early identification and intervention.

School Linked Services is a strengths-based service designed to support and supplement traditional supports available in the school. The goal of the service is to enhance the student’s functioning within the home, school, and community.

Our School Linked Therapist provides mental health therapy onsite to students at the school. This allows school districts to identify students that are uninsured or underinsured to be able to be served by one of our therapists that works in the schools.

The School Linked Case Manager works closely with the student, their family and the student’s support team (e.g., educators, therapists, childcare providers, etc.) to build relationships and implement an individualized care plan. They advocate for the student and link them to appropriate services while monitoring those services to identify any further needs. Learn more about School Linked Services >> https://buff.ly/Ur0S8Hc

We know that St. Patrick's Day last week, but we just couldn't help ourselves, we had to show you "Hanging with my Gnomies", Irish paintings from the students at Luther Hall, our residential treatment program. We encourage art expression for our kids and provide time for their creative sides to come to life.

During their time at Luther Hall, our students build skills and stability in their lives. We also help the family deal with the impact of trauma and mental health issues. Our program is located in a quiet, suburban area of Fargo, ND and serves youth ages 10 - 17.

We recently had a community member ask about Kattie, the mom of two boys in our School Linked Community Services program. We're happy to say that she and the family are doing well! Haven't heard her story? Check it out!

Have you checked out our podcast yet? Hosted by Dr. Michelle K. Murray, President / CEO of Nexus Family Healing and licensed marriage and family therapist, explores the impact of mental health within families through honest, candid conversations.

On the latest episode of our "In This Family" podcast, 22-year-old Frank Cobbe shares his journey understanding bipolar II disorder, navigating hypomania and psychosis, and later discovering he is on the autism spectrum. Along the way, his mom played a key role in helping him seek answers and the journey led to discoveries about her own mental health as well.

Today, Frank is using his experiences to advocate for other young adults as part of NAMI's Next Gen advisory group.

It’s an honest conversation about family, learning together, and the power of support when navigating mental health.

Our Story

Nexus-PATH Family Healing is committed to the safety, well-being and permanency for all children. We support and advocate for the best possible connection for each child to his/her own family. We are continually assessing and responding to the individual needs of those we serve. If reunification is not or cannot be the goal, we will support the least restrictive, most appropriate permanent plan.

Our high standards, clear policies, and best practices ensure that each child and family receives quality service. We will develop alternative methods that lead in collaborative efforts in creating culturally effective services.
