Two very special retirees this week❤️

Griffin and Athena are both turning 8 years old which means they are aging out of the donor program! Both are very regular donors and have saved a combined number of over 60 lives… They are loved and will truly be missed ❤️❤️❤️

Happy retirement to Quill!!! 🎉

Since joining the program back in 2020, Quill has:
-Successfully donated blood 24 times
-Donated more than 1 liter of blood overall🩸
-Helped over 16 different patients

Quill is a photogenic orange cat who loves Churu and has donated a record amount of cat blood over the years. Many lives have been saved because of him, thank you ❤️

About Us

The Red River Animal Emergency Clinic Blood Bank is Fargo-Moorhead’s first veterinary blood donor program. Like humans, certain diseases, toxicities, traumas, and surgeries result in our beloved pets needing life saving blood product transfusions. Unfortunately, certain blood products, such as canine packed red blood cells, can take weeks to arrive when ordered from commercial blood banks. By collecting and processing blood in-house, we are able to provide the Red River Animal Emergency Clinic and surrounding veterinary clinics promptly with fresh blood products.

Our products are collected from happy and healthy community owned pets. Our canine donors are never sedated or forced to donate. All donors require a comprehensive screening before being enrolled into our program to ensure safety for both donors and recipients.
