“I’ve had an amazing experience working with Nevin. He helped me understand proper form in a way no one ever has before. For the first time, I really learned how to build a strong mind–muscle connection and what proper form FEELS like. My issue was overtraining (running 25+ miles a week) and over time, I started noticing groin pain. I wanted to take action and not “run through the pain” so I was recommended to see Nevin. He took the time to break down what I was doing incorrectly and explained why it was contributing to the discomfort I was feeling in my hips. Then he guided me step-by-step through the correct movements, making sure I truly understood how to activate the right muscles. The improvement has been huge—I feel stronger, more aligned, and more confident in my movement. The groin pain subsided after 3 weeks! If you’re looking for a physical therapist who is patient, knowledgeable, and truly committed to your progress, I can’t recommend him enough.”

Running through pain is never the answer.

25+ miles a week. Groin pain building over time. Most people push through it and hope it resolves. It doesn’t. It compounds.

The difference here is that she wanted to understand what was actually going on before it became something bigger. That mindset is everything.

Three weeks later. Pain free. Moving better than before.

I had my last open heart surgery at 19.

Nobody told me what was safe, what was appropriate, or how to time any of it.

So I guessed. And I kept getting it wrong.

A year away from the gym. A lot of weight gained. A lot of failed attempts before something finally clicked.

That experience is in every session I run.

When you’ve lived inside that fear you don’t hand someone a generic protocol and hope for the best.

You understand it.

Two squats. Two different stories.

This guy has run multiple half marathons. No issues. No pain. No wall.

The moment he started pushing toward full marathon volume, something started breaking down past 15K. Every single time.

He didn’t come in because of his squat.

But the squat is one of the tools I use to understand how the body is organizing itself. Not to judge it. Not to clean it up. To read it in the context of what he’s actually asking his body to do.

And that’s the key word. Context.

The pattern in his first squat isn’t wrong. It’s not something I’d touch if he wanted to keep running halves. His body found a strategy and it worked…multiple times, no problems.

But he doesn’t want to run a half anymore.

We don’t fix things just because they’re asymmetrical. We address things when the pattern no longer matches the demand. That line is different for every single person. It depends on their goal, their volume, their history, their body.

For him, his right hip compression and the shift he makes to avoid loading it was totally manageable at half marathon distance. A full is a different conversation. The demand changed. The pattern didn’t. That’s the 15K wall.

Two drills later: right hip opens, load distributes more evenly, second squat looks completely different.

Same body. Different context. Different outcome.

“Nevin is truly the best. I decided I did not want to explore the traditional therapy route. My first appointment I could barely move. He analyzed where I needed to focus and customized a plan specifically for me. The next week, I was feeling 70% better. His technique and approach is really unique and I feel like I got my life back. I can now lift my daughter without any aches and pains and I’m back in the gym regularly!!”

First appointment. Could barely move.

One week later — 70% better.

That’s not luck. That’s what happens when someone actually takes the time to understand what’s going on with your body instead of handing you a generic protocol and hoping for the best.

Every session at Revenant is one-on-one. The plan is built around your goals, your life, and your body. Not a template. Not a printout. A real plan.

This is why I do this.

If you train hard and keep breaking down …I’m talking to you 🫵🏽

Not about your effort. Your effort is not the problem.
It’s about a mismatch between what you’re asking your body to do and what it can actually handle right now.

Think of it like a cup. Training fills it. Stress fills it. Bad sleep fills it. Life fills it. When you’re adding faster than you empty it…something gives. Every time.

Rest isn’t the fix. Rest actually lowers your tolerance. You take two weeks off, feel better, come back to the same training, and break down again. Same cycle. Different month.

The answer isn’t to stop. It’s to find what you can actually handle right now and build from there. Stay active through the whole thing.

Pain relief can be quick. Building something that actually lasts takes time and the right plan.

But there is always something you can do. You don’t have to stop being who you are to get better.

5 years of chronic low back pain.

Spasms so bad they’d shoot from his back all the way down to his toes. L4/L5 bulging disc is what he was diagnosed with. Tried chiro, massage, stretching, PT and they all helped a little, but never actually fixed anything.

Couldn’t stand upright for 30 minutes without his back locking up on him.

Third session in. He walks in and tells me he hasn’t had a single symptom in weeks.
Then at the end of the session a pack of gum slides off the table. Before his brain could even process what was happening, his body just reacted. Shot down, caught it, stood back up.

Spidey sense fully intact.
He looks up at me like he just witnessed something supernatural.😳
And honestly? So did I.

Because this guy has been terrified to bend forward without bracing his entire spine for YEARS. And his nervous system just let him do it without asking permission.

Look at both photos. Dude is clearly not tight as he can touch the floor in both.
But look at HOW he gets there.

Top photo: his low back is locked. Stiff as hell. He’s hinging everything from the hips to compensate because his nervous system has been guarding that lumbar spine like it’s made of glass. That was his only move.

Bottom photo: he’s actually rounding through his low back. Lengthening through it. Range he hasn’t felt in years. Not because he stretched more. Because he stopped being so damn scared of it.

Neither strategy is wrong. They’re just different. Now he has both.

That’s the whole point. His back doesn’t have to work overtime every time he moves anymore. It just works.

Is there more to work on? Of course! We gotta get back in the gym consistently and get him boxing again! The jobs not done, but you gotta celebrate every win! Pain-free does not equal performance!! We got goals to crush 😤

That’s what we do here.

“I can’t recommend this physical therapist enough. I had been dealing with ongoing hip pain for a few years that would flare up periodically, especially after longer runs or when I increased my mileage. The pain would force me to scale back running for days — sometimes even weeks — which made it really difficult to make consistent progress. I had seen a couple of specialists regarding the pain, but I always felt dismissed or given vague answers. One orthopedic doctor even labeled it as fibromyalgia, which left me feeling pretty discouraged.

From the first session, he took the time to really listen and understand my full history. Instead of brushing it off, he actually connected the dots and realized my pain was likely coming from compensation patterns from a previous injury — where one side had become stronger and I was over-relying on it.

What really stood out was how thoughtful and targeted his approach was. The exercises he gave me weren’t random — they were clearly designed to rebalance my strength and improve my running form. I honestly felt relief after the very first session, which almost felt too good to be true. But it kept working. Each week, we built on that progress with more advanced exercises, and my pain hasn’t returned.

He’s also just a genuinely caring and personable provider. I felt heard, taken seriously, and supported the entire time, which made a huge difference after past experiences.

If you’ve been struggling with pain and not getting real answers, I would absolutely recommend seeing him.”

- A very happy patient 😊

This is what physical therapy is supposed to feel like.

Most people think pain means something is broken.

It doesn’t.

Pain is your nervous system doing its job, firing an alarm when it perceives a threat. Not necessarily when something is actually damaged.

Your MRI is not your diagnosis. You can have structural changes on imaging and feel nothing. You can feel intense pain with nothing structurally wrong.

And if that alarm stays on long enough…Your body gets better at triggering it. That’s not weakness, it’s adaptation.

The goal isn’t to ignore pain. It’s to understand what it’s actually telling you.

That’s where real recovery starts.

Asked Grok about PT while waiting in the Chick-fil-A drive thru line.

Unhinged mode did not disappoint 😂

Not how I would’ve put it…but honestly? He’s not wrong.

The rubber band exercise era needs to end.

If your body keeps breaking down and you’ve tried the traditional route, you might just be fixing the wrong thing.

That’s what we do at Revenant. Find the actual problem.
Anyway. The sandwich was worth the wait. 🐄
