A new study revealed several positive outcomes associated with the use of the hashtag oral appliance with a mouth shield, particularly in improving periodontal and sleep-related parameters.
The study, done by Texas A&M University College of Dentistry, showed:
✅ Improved sleep respiration parameters
✅ Decreased snoring from 26.1% to 4.5%
✅ Declines in mouth breathing
✅ Reduction in periodontal pathogens
These findings underscore the potential of oral appliance therapy as a multi-disciplinary approach to improving oral and systemic health in this patient population.
