Spikes N Tykes Volleyball League

Spikes N Tykes Volleyball League Spikes N Tykes VBC introduces volleyball to 2nd, 3rd,4th and 5th grade boys and girls. The season ends with a single elimination tournament.

We play our league games on Saturday and Sunday afternoons in March, April, and May at the Farmersville Gym. Teams meet a few times a week in their hometowns and teach basic volleyball skills. After a few weeks of practices all the expansion teams come to the Farmersville Gym to play in a weekly league. The season lasts about 8 weeks total and is a great opportunity to prepare for junior high volleyball.

Pool play in volleyball can be a bit confusing. I’ll try to explain the best I can. The way we run Pool play at SNT and have for 13 plus years….every set you play counts. Whoever has the most wins gets 1st. Fewest is last. When teams tie in wins and losses we look at the points they allowed their opponents to score. So if we think about it like this. Team A wins 21-0 in set 1 and Team B wins 21-19 in set 2. Team A allowed O, 21. Team B allowed 21, 19. Add those together and Team A had 21. Team B 40. Clearly the team that allowed fewer points (lower overall score) did a better job keeping their opponent from scoring points so we give them the higher placement. If for some reason there’s an exact point tie we look at head to head. If one team won both sets then that’s easy. If they split we look at those points allowed to see who allowed the fewest points scored. If that’s a tie then we just flip a coin.

We would not do points scored because if we are playing to 21 and both teams won 3 sets they would always have the same number of points scored.
