I made judging myself into my own personal sport for a long time. Even as I progressed into my career as a therapist, and especially as I pursued spiritual growth.

“I’m a meditator, an energy healer, and a therapist, I should be able to handle this better.”

I don’t speak to myself this way or expect this of myself anymore. I have done a ton of healing. But healing doesn’t give me a free pass to not feel pain anymore. It doesn’t mean I’m never insecure, anxious, judgmental, or resentful.

Stop trying to fix yourself and avoid feeling anything “bad.” Instead, start changing the way you relate to your thoughts and feelings in each moment and you will find a resilience in you that you didn’t know was possible.

Be gentle with yourself today and welcome whatever your moment brings. ❤️✨

If we think we are deviating from social norms, we tend to panic and think we are “bad,” or “wrong.”

Let go of your shame around the ways you feel you’re not matching up with your peers or society’s expectations.

Maybe what works for everyone else doesn’t work for you. Maybe you need to do, be, or have something different right now - or forever.

So, yeah, it’s normal and really okay for you to be right where you are, even if you want to make changes.

As soon as you can release your fear about that, the next step becomes clearer, easier, and more in alignment with who you want to be.

It is the nature of the mind to wander. No problem, begin again.⁠⠀

Stay as focused as you can with these tips, and be compassionate and understanding of yourself when you become distracted. Just begin again. Always just begin again.

Not thinking highly enough of yourself can sometimes be masked by just looking really busy, or even generous. ⁠⠀

I'm not saying every really nice person has no self-worth, there are some people who genuinely just feel it is their mission in life to serve others, but for most of us, the things I mentioned in this post are what we should be looking out for.⁠⠀

Taking care of ourselves is the number one way we take care of others. Taking care of ourselves means that we respect ourselves and honor our own needs.⁠⠀
⁠⠀
Watch self-sabotage behaviors slow down the minute you start to mindfully reduce the amount of negative self-talk, overworking, or constantly doing favors for everyone else when it stretches you too thin.⁠⠀

The subconscious mind is sneaky, and way more powerful than you know. You, reading this with your conscious mind, are running about 5% of your behaviors. The rest are being driven by the subconscious mind. ⁠⠀

This is the conditioning we've received over a lifetime, thoughts, feelings, beliefs, habits, and behaviors that have been deeply embedded in our psyche since the time we are born.⁠⠀
⁠⠀
If there are behaviors that are causing you problems that you just seem to keep doing and don't want to do them anymore, I suggest trying to tap into your subconscious mind.⁠⠀
⁠⠀
The subconscious mind can be accessed in a few ways: through repetition, binaural beats, visualizations, and other meditative practices, to name a a few.⁠⠀

Do you want to know what really taught me the most important spiritual lessons of my life? It wasn't the hundreds of books I've read.. it was binge eating.⁠⠀

I was always obsessing over what to eat and what not to eat, how to eat, when to eat. What I weighed, what my measurements were, what foods to avoid, how to stay thin, waking up at ridiculous times to work out for hours before work, and more.⁠⠀
⁠⠀
All of these thoughts and feelings were things that taught me that if I wanted to be free from this, I really didn't have a choice, it was time for me to practice self acceptance and STOP trying to be perfect all of the time.⁠⠀
⁠⠀
I don't think I'd have the self-awareness and compassion that I do now had I never started binge eating. I don't think I would have learned patience and to allow the moment to be exactly as it is without having to fix it without binge eating. ⁠⠀
⁠⠀
Binge eating has been my teacher. I never would have said that was the case as it was happening. As it was happening I was in agony.⁠⠀

Stay mindful of your hunger. Generally you do not want to get past "hungry," because this is when we are most likely to overdo it with food. ⁠⠀

Constantly tuning into your hunger will make you a more intuitive and attuned eater rather than just eating because food is there, or not eating because it isn't your scheduled time.⁠⠀

A general rule is that you eat when you're hungry and stop when you're full. ⁠⠀
⁠⠀
As we relearn a healthy relationship with our body this can sometimes feel like a foreign concept. I hope you find this scale helpful if that's the case for you.⁠⠀

I never used to like my body. I always felt smaller and chunkier than my friends or girls around me. I was a cheerleader and many of my teammates would practice in their sports bras and I always wished I had the body to do that. The freedom I’ve found is not just about food and not dieting - it’s also about the freedom for my body to be exactly as it is, and it’s more than good enough 💜
