Patients with dysphagia face an increased risk of aspiration pneumonia (AP) and ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) due to the buildup of harmful pathogens in their secretions.

In recognition of Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Month, we stand with patients and their families to raise awareness of the challenges of these often overlooked cancers.

Each year in the U.S., approximately 71,000 Americans are diagnosed with head and neck cancers*. That means someone is being diagnosed with head or neck cancer about every 8 minutes.

Head and neck cancers – and their treatments – can significantly affect swallowing function. Difficulty swallowing (dysphagia) is a common issue among cancer patients.

SWIK was created by Rebecca Altounian, the founder of SWIK Medical Solutions, following her journey with cancer and the challenges of saliva management.

Today, we remain committed to supporting patients with our innovative device designed to provide targeted, continuous oral secretion management for adults with dysphagia. By offering a new solution, we strive to enhance comfort and improve the quality of life for those navigating head and neck cancers.
