We’re excited to share that Dr. Michelle Speer is now offering the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) to Mala’s occupational therapy clients! 🎧✨

The Safe and Sound Protocol is a research-backed listening intervention designed to gently support nervous system regulation. By helping shift the body out of “fight, flight, or freeze” and into a state of safety and connection, SSP can enhance emotional regulation, social engagement, and overall resilience.

SSP may be a great fit for children, teens, and adults who are:
• Navigating trauma or PTSD
• Experiencing anxiety or depression
• Neurodivergent or have sensory processing differences
• Presenting with symptoms of chronic stress or burnout

Happy World Social Work Day! 🌎✨

Today we’re celebrating the incredible social workers at Mala who are an integral part of our psychotherapy team. Beyond the therapy room, our social workers serve as supervisors, leaders, and lifelong learners — strengthening our team, supporting professional growth, and helping guide Mala’s mission forward.

We are grateful for the skill, integrity, and humanity they bring to our community. Thank you for all that you do! 🌎✨

At Mala, our mission is to help individuals, families, and communities heal from trauma and to prevent cycles of fear, hatred, and violence from continuing across generations.

Places of worship are meant to be spaces of safety, belonging, and connection. When that sense of safety is disrupted, the emotional and psychological impact can extend far beyond the immediate event and affect an entire community.

As mental health professionals, we know that moments like this can bring up fear, grief, anger, and vulnerability. Our role is to help communities process these experiences in ways that promote healing rather than deepen division.

Mala Child & Family Institute condemns acts of violence against any community and remains committed to supporting the emotional well-being of those affected. Our team is available to provide trauma-informed care to members of the Temple Israel and greater West Bloomfield community. 💛
