🥰 Last week, my last 2025 doula baby arrived after a long, long journey. (My before & after selfies)

🤰This client and I bonded over several months as we prepared for her birth with the most unique set of circumstances.

She met every challenge with bravery, grace, and so much love for her baby - both throughout her pregnancy and also during her labor.

👭 Her primary support person/birth partner was not her life partner, but her best friend. We utilized technology to ensure her life partner was as involved as possible, too.

🏩 Through every twist and turn of her labor, she stayed true to her values. Sure, it unfolded differently than she imagined, but, the self-advocacy and communication skills we focused on developing at each of our appointments were key to her ability to stay at the center of each discussion with her medical team.

Lessons from this birth:
🔹️Primary Support/Birth Partners can be anyone you love and who loves you

🔹️Communication skills are essential for labor, birth, and your parenting journey

🔹️Sometimes, all a baby needs is a little more time - they are making their own journey

🥰What a happy way to close my 2025 birth schedule - let's get ready for the babies of 2026

I love it when my clients and I create such a deep connection that we learn things about each other that are beautiful and prove our human essence to each other.

On a recent birth, the soon to be dad and I had some deep discussions about the merits of this great bean. It was a silly, light conversation that clearly left an impact.

Thank you, for being such a great couple and allowing me to be part of your beautiful baby's birth story!

I will treasure every sip of these delectable beans ☕️🥰

👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 And baby makes 4 ☺️

🗓 10 days after the last birth, this (not so little) baby made their way into the world

🥰 I had the honor of supporting this couple during their 1st pregnancy and birth , so being asked to join them again was a privilege I had to accept

✨️ Lessons from this birth: It's easy and tempting, even, to assume that your 2nd birth will be similar to your first, but every birth is unique and special.
Make your plans, but be open to all possibilities.
You may find that you don't need or want the same pain management support you had before.
You may realize that your first birth experience unleashed a strength that you didn't know you had, but reveals itself the next time around.
You may find that you are, indeed, as powerful as this baby needs you to be to safely be born - even when it looks a little different than your first.

🎉Congratulations to this family- what a beautiful and amazing way to end my fall roster🎉

🤰 If you're having a baby soon, no matter how many times you've had a baby, a little extra support can go a long way.

👣 Last week, another beautiful, sweet baby entered the world

⏳️ It's been a minute since I've supported a "marathon" birth, and all 4 shifts of nurses and 3 shifts of midwives were absolutely amazing!

👩🏽‍❤️‍💋‍👨🏽 There was such a quiet, yet profound undercurrent of deep love between mom and dad, that everyone in the room felt and respected deeply.

🤰All our prenatal visits helped clarify goals, set expectations, and build a foundation of trust, which helped mom and dad unitedly discuss and make the best decisions for them and their baby.

✨️ Lessons from this birth: Focusing in developing communication and self-advocacy skills during pregnancy can help you feel confident and empowered to achieve your goals, even if labor goes much longer that you imagined.

🥰 Communication is the foundation of my support - even if you choose not to have a doula by your side during labor and birth, having me on your prenatal team to help you prepare definitely stacks the cards in your favor!

👭To my brave, creative, brilliant, protective big sister:

Until 7 years ago, I shared every day of my life with you.

👶🏻👧🏻 From the day I was born, you took care of me, guided me, protected me, and LOVED me.

💔 It's been so hard to figure out who I am without you. There were so many times since you were stolen from me that I almost lost my will to live, but I leaned on all the strength you showed in your 46 years, and I am finally able to think of you without completely falling apart.

❤️‍🩹You wrapped me, Hans, and our boys with so much love - your heart was huge, your love - expansive, your hugs - the best I've ever felt. It is your love that has helped my shattered heart heal.

💜 Thank you, my Lisa, for being the best big sister (you were Hans' sister too - the "in-law" qualifier didn't exist for you two), and auntie any of us could have asked for.

As hard as it is to get through another year of you being gone, we know we are that much closer to seeing you again 💜❤️‍🩹💜

💝This birth was truly an honor for me!

🏞️ Strength and bravery are sometimes the result of a long, arduous journey.

🤰🏻For some women, pregnancy and birth can be a smooth and easy path. For others, the road to motherhood is full of twists, turns, and mountainous trespasses that open up to beautiful, sun-drenched fields.

💞 This baby has been loved long before entering the world. The joy, love, and gratitude that poured out and around this family was one of the most beautiful experiences I've had.

Congratulations to this incredibly special family as they enjoy their first day together 💝

🥰 Birth stories matter! In my latest episode, hear how Trishna and Tom turned to an empowering home birth after exploring their options beyond the conventional hospital setting. It's a story of trusting their intuition, building a supportive community, and honoring cultural practices. Don't miss it!

Intrusive thoughts are more common than you might think for new moms. I absolutely love how these cartoons show what it feels like and how treatable this condition is.

As a PMH-C allied professional Postpartum Doula, I can help support you by listening and connecting you with specialized providers.

Have you ever had scary thoughts pop into your head that you just couldn't stop thinking about?

They're called intrusive thoughts, and they are distressing, repetitive and unwanted. They can be triggered by big life changes or mental health issues.

NPR's senior visuals producer LA Johnson, who struggled with these thoughts after giving birth to her second child, talks to mental health professionals about how to manage them. She illustrates her experience and the expert advice in a comic: https://n.pr/4mLaf9q

✨ There’s a lot of noise out there about what a “good” or “positive” birth should look like.

But the truth? That looks different for everyone.

In every birth planning session, I remind my clients:
What feels safe and right for YOU is what matters most.

For some, that’s an unmedicated vaginal birth.
For others, it’s a scheduled Cesarean.
And for many, it’s something in between.

You have the right to choose what feels best for you and your baby — that choice is your first step toward a birth experience that feels empowering and supported. 🩷

🪷 If you’d like space to talk through your options with a calm, judgment-free guide — I’d be honored to help.

📅 Schedule your session today — let’s plan for a birth that feels right for you.
