All right, Ketamine Chronicles part three. So let’s talk about what you need to look for if you decide you need ketamine. And again, ketamine should be an option only when you’ve tried other medications and other treatments. What you need to do is find a place, a clinic where they will set you up for success. Understand this is a hallucinogenic. In other words, if you go into using this medication and you’re in a negative place, you will have, as we say, a bad trip, and that will not be pleasant for you. So you wanna go to a place that will set you up in an environment and also have someone there who can set the stage for you to have a positive experience. Now again, what happens with ketamine is it opens up the brain, right? It makes it more elastic and able to make change. So if you’re not making change, but you’re doing ketamine, you’re missing half the treatment. So you need to do your work. Therapy, you need to do the things that will help your brain create these new neuro- neurological pathways and that ketamine can be an assistance in that. All right, take care.

All right. Part 2 of the Ketamine Chronicles. So today, wanna talk about when you should use it for anxiety, depression, and OCD, and I’m only going to be talking about these areas ‘cause that’s my specialty. First of all, you should have tried an SSRI or several with your doctor before going to ketamine. Also, you should have tried TMS, which is transcranial magnetic stimulation and, of course, have done counseling through all of this. If you find those things don’t work, then I think it’s okay to try ketamine. Ketamine is a little more invasive, and it should be a last resort after trying those things I previously mentioned. Okay, I hope this was helpful. Take care.

So let’s talk about ketamine. And I’m going to do la three-part series ‘cause there’s lots to talk about with this medication. So what is ketamine? Ketamine is a very strong anesthetic that has hallucinogenic effects. Traditionally used for, obviously, surgery. Um, over the past decade, there’s been some popularity of using it for anxiety, depression and OCD. And so in the next few segments I want to talk a little bit about that, its effectiveness, and who should use it and who shouldn’t. All right. Take care.

I discuss a powerful strategy for managing anxiety using a tug-of-war analogy. I share three key steps: recognizing anxiety as separate from oneself, using sarcastic self-talk to neutralize worst-case scenarios, and implementing distraction techniques to break anxiety’s grip.

Will you do something for me? Will you fight your anxiety loudly so somebody else doesn’t have to suffer in silence? I think it’s so important that people know it’s okay to talk about their anxiety ‘cause the more we bring things out into the light, the less heavy it feels. You cannot overcome mental health issues without other people. All right, take care.
