The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) addresses the physical, cognitive, psychosocial, sensory, and other aspects of daily living. The OTA supports an individual’s or a group’s participation in everyday life activities and occupations to meet the local needs of the community. Clients may need therapy due to a physical injury, a disease process, aging, or cognitive problems from mental illness or alcohol and drug abuse, or to improve quality of life. Occupational therapy assistants are employed in hospitals, outpatient facilities, skilled nursing facilities, mental health facilities, schools, community agencies, and home-health care.

Our Occupational Therapy Assistant students had such a fun and meaningful hands-on learning experience today! 🐣🦽

They participated in an Easter egg hunt while navigating in wheelchairs, giving them a firsthand perspective on mobility challenges their future clients may face. This activity not only brought lots of laughter and teamwork, but also built empathy, problem-solving skills, and a deeper understanding of accessibility.

Learning by doing is what makes this program so impactful, we’re proud of our students for fully engaging and supporting one another! 💛

🎁 OTAP Adapted Toy Project 2025 🎄
Our Occupational Therapy Assistant Program is once again creating custom adapted toys for children in our community.
These toys are modified to support motor skills, accessibility, and independent play, because every child deserves the joy of play.
