Janet Sue Bays, of Park Hills, entered eternal rest on August 4, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones, at the age of 82. She was born in Ellington, Missouri, on October 1, 1942, to the late Burnice A. and Goldie L. (Bowers) Black.

Janet is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Charles E. Bays; her children, Steven W. (Laura) Bays of Sikeston and Mary R. Bays of Farmington; and her beloved grandchildren: Derek Detring, Scott (Ayumi) King, Courtney (Matthew) Beasley, Zach Bays, Garrhett (Samantha) Bays, Bryce Bays, and Bayleigh Cates. She is also lovingly remembered by her great-grandchildren, Callen and Bella, as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her children, Ronald E. Bays and Melinda S. Bays, and her siblings: Billy G. (Rita) Black, Gerald W. (JoAnne) Black, and Wanda May (Eugene) Ray.

Janet previously worked as a certified nurse’s aide at Farmington Community Hospital. She enjoyed playing bingo, lottery scratch-offs, baking, cooking, spending time with her grandchildren, and traveling the open road with her beloved husband.

A celebration of Janet’s life will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel and Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

David Alan Vuilcott

David Alan Vuilcott, of Fredericktown, entered eternal rest on August 3, 2025, at St. Francois Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 70.

He was born on June 17, 1955, in Wisconsin to the late Donald and Delores Vuilcott. David is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Debra (Hicks) Vuilcott; two sons, Ethan Vuilcott of Springfield, MO, and Jeremy (Kristin) Vuilcott of Jefferson City, MO; two beloved grandchildren; and sisters, Dana and Donna, along with many other family members and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Denise.

David had a passion for farming and woodworking. Many of his handcrafted creations were shared with the community at local craft fairs. He was also a familiar face to many during his time working at Walmart in Fredericktown.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Libertyville Christian Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Mike Winick.

FARMINGTON - Adelaide S. M. Finnegan passed away on February 4, 2025 at Community Manor in Farmington at the age of 97 years. She was born in Lismore, Australia on July 5, 1927 to the late Sydney Abbey Doyle and Sophie (Matthews) Doyle Drew. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Leo John Finnegan in 2006; sons, James Finnegan and Terry Finnegan; granddaughter, Michelle "Mia" Pratte; and siblings, Terry Drew and Sheila Dockrill.

Adelaide was her children's "Earth Angel Momma", beautiful inside and out. She was all about her family and her home. For many years she worked alongside her husband in the real estate business. Flower and vegetable gardening was a hobby that she excelled in. At one time Adelaide was a member of the Little Acorn Club in Farmington. She was an accomplished seamstress who made many beautiful dresses for her daughter and granddaughter. A talented artist, Adelaide enjoyed painting in oils. She was a avid reader and in her spare time liked going to garage sales and antiquing.

She will be sorely missed by her loved ones, including her two children, Leo "John" Finnegan, II of Corpus Christie, Texas and Patricia "Patsy" Pratte of Farmington; and grandchildren, Brennan Finnegan and Michael Pratte.

Dell's life, along with her former daughter-in-law Miranda Potter's life, will be celebrated at a graveside service at Mayberry Cemetery on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at 10:30am. Share your condolences and memories at

Kimberly D. Gonz

Kimberly D. Gonz, passed into eternal rest on July 30, 2025, in Fredericktown, Missouri, at the age of 57. She was born July 3, 1968, to John A. Gonz and the late Marilyn Louise (Wampler) Gonz. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a brother, James “Jimmy” Gonz.

While Kim was growing up her family moved around the country to various places until 1976 when they moved back to be near their Missouri roots. At that time, she attended Coffman School and then went on to Farmington High School, where she graduated in 1986. She was a working mom who always made sure her children were at the center of her life. She was in her element in hot weather and when in the water. An avid Cardinal fan, Kim rarely missed opening day of the baseball season. She was an outgoing and fun-loving person whose positive outlook on life and her Christian faith was boundless.

She is survived by her children, Brandi Crowell, Katherine (Jonathan) Rupard and Johnathon (Crystal) Crowell; her father, John A. Gonz; 11 grandchildren, Ethan, Bella, Blake, Peyton, Caitlyn, Ian, Owen, Finley, Dakotah, Drake, and Lyla; her brother, Albert (Jackie) Gonz and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Helen Beardsley, of Farmington, Missouri entered eternal rest on July 25, 2025, in DeLand, Florida, at the age of 84. Born on February 9, 1941, in Dundee, Scotland, she was the beloved daughter of the late Mark and Margaret (McReddie) Bolton.

Helen is lovingly remembered by her children, Iain (Bridget) Beardsley of St. Louis, MO, and Lesley (Chad) Hurta of DeLand, FL; her cherished grandchildren, Joseph Beardsley, Molly Beardsley, Cameron (Caitie) Hurta, and Maggie Hurta; and numerous siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 50 years, Harold "Joe" Beardsley.

Helen was a longtime member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Farmington, where her faith and fellowship meant so much to her. A dedicated educator, she spent many joyful years teaching at Farmington Christian Academy. Known for her quick wit and unmistakable Scottish brogue, Helen touched many lives and leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness.

DESLOGE, MISSOURI – Frank Loftin Kinsey, of Desloge, passed away July 24, 2025, at NHC Nursing Center at the age of 85. He was born in Mount Holly, New Jersey, on July 16, 1940, to the late Earl Kinsey and Myrtle Jobes Philbrook. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Frank Kinsey, Jr., and a sister, Geraldine Myers.

Frank enjoyed Native American crafting and woodworking. An outdoorsman, he loved horseback riding, boating, fishing, and working on various kinds of engines.

Frank proudly served his country in the United States Army, serving in Vietnam. He spent his career working as a mechanic, in HVAC maintenance, and for a number of years worked for the U. S. Postal Service.

Survivors include his daughters, Charlotte Guagdagno and Linda Wallace; grandchildren, Craig, Joseph, Jarred, Ash, Nicolas, and Izzy; stepdaughter, Melissa Ann Rico; stepsons, Robert and John Burkitt; and a sister, Susann Philbrook.

Vincent “Jay” Smith, 48, of Farmington, passed away July 27, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Casper, Wyoming, on July 27, 1977, to Judy (Tripp) Smith and the late Kenneth Smith. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Lora Mae Tripp and Pearl Mills, and an aunt, Kathleen Smith.

Jay’s family moved to the Farmington area in 1990, where he attended school. He served in the United States Army before going to classes to become a Certified Nurse Attendant. He worked locally in several nursing homes during his career. He very much enjoyed working with elderly patients and considered it to be his calling. A true outdoorsman, he loved to hike and walk. Jay was an animal lover and had a special place in his heart for dogs.

Survivors include his mother, Judy Smith; siblings, Amanda Smith and Brandon (Julie) Smith; nieces, Morgan Brewer and Ariel Meadors; nephews, Dakota Smith, Tristan Meadors, and Ethan Woody.

Evelyn “Sissy” Mae Adams, of Farmington, entered eternal rest on July 28, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones, at the age of 77.

She was born on September 21, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Ray A. and Helen N. (Bible) Young.

Sissy is survived by her devoted husband, Harlan Adams, and her children, Glen A. (Melissa) Francis and Carla (Allen) Francis Rhodes. She is also lovingly remembered by her stepchildren, Valerie (Jeff) Thompson and Lonnie (Shonna) Adams; grandchildren, Amanda (Dan Voorheis) Rhodes, Kylie (Paul) Dalton, Jaden (Taylor) Allen, Zack (Lisa) Thompson, Shane Adams, Drew (Amelia) Adams, and Makayla (Tim) O’Halloran; and great-grandchildren, Maverick Dalton, Braelyn Dalton, Hattie Allen, and Katherine Thompson. She is also survived by her siblings, William Burlbaw, Georgia Haught, and Billy Young; her sister-in-law, Donnie Young; many nieces, nephews, and extended family; her lifelong friend Carol Gray; and numerous other dear friends.

Sissy was preceded in death by her parents, Ray Young and Helen (Bible) Wilt, as well as her brothers, Jimmy Young and Darrel Burlbaw.

A proud member of the VFW Auxiliary, Sissy found joy in music and dancing, crafting, painting, and—most of all—spending time with her family. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel, officiated by Pastor Kevin Miller. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Leadington. Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to the VFW or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
