Today we had a productive morning of strategic planning followed by an informative and inspiring look at AI with Dr. James Basham from the University of Kansas. We loved diving into and dissecting this powerful tool and where it could be ethically embedded into our work. Trainees also heard from Dr. Gerard Kerins, learning about considerations for older adults with disabilities.

Now take a guess - did we write this post or did AI?!

Today is Assistive Technology Awareness Day!
A powerful new story from the Institute for Community Inclusion highlights the real impact of inclusive practices right here in Connecticut.
This story reminds us that access, opportunity, and belonging are not just ideas—they are lived experiences that shape outcomes for individuals, families, and communities. Through collaboration, advocacy, and intentional systems change, we can ensure that every person has the support they need to thrive.
Stories like this elevate voices, reduce stigma, and inspire action—because meaningful inclusion starts with understanding and connection.

Student Spotlight! Today, we recognize Jon Bassett and Alexandra "Alex" Chester, both a part of the School Counseling master's program at UConn!

Jon is a second-year student in the master’s in School Counseling program. Prior to this, Jon was part of the Integrated Bachelor’s/Master’s (IB/M) program for secondary social studies education and graduated in 2019, where he taught high school social studies for 3 years. He hopes to bring new strategies and ideas towards helping support all students as a future school counselor in Connecticut after his experience in the CT LEND program.

Alex is a second-year student in the master’s in Educational Psychology program with specialization in School Counseling . Always hungry for more knowledge and willing to further her own research, she began the next step in her personal educational career by starting her graduate studies in school counseling, as she hopes to continue working with young and adolescent students in her career. One of Alex’s primary goals is to better support and reduce educational disparities for historically underrepresented students, including students of color and neurodiverse students.

We are so proud of you both!
