We are 6 patients away from reaching our absolute limit for the DPC program before entering a waitlist (400 total patients)

However, for those who do not have an annual membership and have a quarterly one, membership fees are due April 1st for the 2nd quarter. Please do make your prompt payment.

Members are given until April 15th this first time as a grace period, but if people are not current by then, their spots will be given to those on the waitlist.

We understand we will not have 100% retention of all patients every quarter, and so if people choose to drop out of the DPC, people will be taken from the waitlist in the order in which they were placed on it.

Please understand, this DPC program is how PFM is managing to remain financially solvent while simultaneously seeing thousands of Medicaid patients at a loss. This is how the most vulnerable members of our community are able to not be treated like cattle and rushed through an appointment somewhere else offering inferior care, and get 15 minute appointment times despite generating less revenue than our operational cost to see them.

This also allows 400 people with or without insurance to get the full focus and dedication of Dr. Powers in their care for an affordable price as well.

As before, the DPC costs $1200 as an annual payment or $400 quarterly for 12 visits, and 2 free laser sessions as well.

Non-Michigan residents are charged a $400 annual out of state fee to help offset the expense of holding a medical license in nearly every US state!

We appreciate your understanding and prompt payment as we work through our first year of doing this!

Just a quick reminder that our quest draw lab station is open now 9:15 to 5:15 Monday through Thursday at the practice. We have Mondays available now!

Dr. Powers is taking a long weekend trip to attend a close friend's wedding, and will be leaving Thurs afternoon Mar 13th to return Tuesday evening Mar 18th. He will have limited internet access during this time.

During that time, Dayna and Sommer will be covering for any urgent needs.

Just an FYI, in case you are waiting for a specific reply from Dr. P. They will be checking his inbox and seeing urgent needs, but some questions only he can answer!

We are about 30 people away from reaching our waitlist point for the Direct Primary Care program with Dr. Powers

If this is something you want to join, we do advise you do so now before we're out of slots.

The plan is basically to have a waitlist of people who want to see him, and as some patients inevitably drop off for various reasons, we pull people in sequential order from that waitlist.

Effectively, once the list is full, there will be no new patients until someone leaves.

Again, this is only for the DPC program with Dr. Powers, all other patients seeing Sommer or Dayna are unaffected by this.

Thank you to those who have joined and supported the DPC program, this has literally pulled us out of the nosedive into financial ruin we were headed into by taking too many Medicaid patients at a loss. This program quite literally finances the ability for us to see these patients at a loss of about $100 an hour. They would otherwise not have many other choices of where to get this level of care, if any.

Warning: To those patients currently enjoying compounded Tirzepatide, and are concerned about the upcoming March 17th FDA shutdown.

Without getting too much into it, you do not need to be worried about this shutdown anymore. It will not affect PFM patients, and I have found a solution which will allow us to continue to have access to affordable, legal, USP approved, compounded Tirzepatide after the shutdown date.

Happy to discuss this with anyone with questions at an appointment, but in short, that problem has been solved. Don't fret over it. It will not affect PFM patients.

As always, Powers Family Medicine does our best to make sure our patients have access to the best medical technology, medications, and novel techniques, particularly negotiating private better pricing for our patient population whenever possible. It is a particular joy for me to pit different service providers against each other in price wars, and let them battle royale until only one is left, providing the best services and prices to our patients. That's how capitalism is supposed to work!

TLDR: We're very happy to state this major concern has been solved, and our patients will continue to be able to access affordable Tirzepatide after March 17th 2025.

WARNING: Those with whole genome sequences from Nebula.org

I have a full genome sequence from nebula on myself, my dad, my mom, my sister, and my fiancée.

I log in today to see "nebula is shutting down". At first it seems like they are just migrating to a new name, but suddenly I'm expected to "upgrade" to a $4 a week membership, despite the fact that I have a lifetime membership under nebula. It almost seems like they are finding a way to weasel out of their purchase contract by rebranding.

This is all very sus, and I feel bad, as I have previously recommended nebula over sequencing due to having such a great experience with them over the past few years. Up until now, working with the genomes of many people, I have greatly preferred nebula's data options and built in tools.

If you have data on nebula. You have 9 days to download it. Restoring your cram file can take up to 48 hours, so you should log in TODAY, restore it, and then when you get the alert that its ready, log in and download your Cram, Crai, VCF and TBI files. This will be a lot of data, around 300gb, so hopefully you have a place to store that.

If you don't, the VCF and TBI are mostly good enough except in specific circumstances for the purposes of medical genome review (looking for causes of dysphoria or poor transition results)
I'm sorry to anyone I recommended this service to in the past. I've had a WGS with them since 2022, and never had an issue until now.
Get your data backed up ASAP before you lose the opportunity to do so.

So much for a "lifetime" membership.

Just as a warning to our patients who are currently enjoying compounded Tirzepatide from different compounding pharmacies.

The FDA is highly likely to terminate the ability of compounding pharmacies to make compounded Tirzepatide in the next few weeks, meaning you will no longer be able to get it from them.

I strongly advise you consider refilling your RX now, and filling for a larger volume if you plan on continuing to take it through the spring.

As of right now, March 19th will be the final date they are allowed to make it if there is no appeal or injunction to change this, so consider yourself warned!
