A few weeks ago several union members, their families and St. Francois County Ambulance District came together to host a BBQ fundraiser to help with funeral costs for a fellow union member/coworker’s father’s passing. It was a very successful benefit. We want to thank everyone that showed up to support this cause, SFCAD for allowing us to host it at house 1 and everyone who showed up to help cook, package and deliver some of the orders.

Below are a few pictures:

Recently, we had a fellow union member retire after 30 years of service at St. Francois County Ambulance District. He will be missed around the district, but he has spread his knowledge to many providers still there. Congratulations on your retirement, Chris!

Last weekend we had our 3rd Annual Christmas Party. It had an amazing turnout and everyone had a great time. We appreciate the Mineral Area Elks for allowing us to have the party there. This year we chose to adopt a family for Christmas with the proceeds from our silent auction. We just want to say thank you to Blush+Charm, Cedar Falls Tactical, Fired food truck, General Custards Retreat, Grind nutrition, La Pachanga, Main&Mill Brewery, On point nutrition, The Joyful treehouse, The Lunch Lady food truck and 12 West for the donations. Also thank you to SFCAD A shift days for donating 2 baskets, SFCAD A shift nights for donating a basket, SFCAD front office for donating 2 baskets and Kylie & The Gartner’s for donating a basket. Thank you to several of our union members who helped set up, run and breakdown the party. Also a big thank you to SFCAD administration for helping host the party. We look forward to next years party. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Recently we did a battle of the badges backpack food drive that collected 241 items. Today some of our union members and one of Central County 911 dispatchers took the donations to Central, Bismarck, and West County school districts. We appreciate Central County 911, Desloge Police Department and St. Francois County Ambulance District for their participation in this drive. We look forward to next years drive.

It is with great sadness that I announce that Boone County Fire Protection District Assistant Chief Matthew Tobben died this morning during a swift water rescue operation.

Assistant Chief Matt Tobben was assisting the Columbia Fire Department during a swift water rescue operation at Rangeline Street and Bear Creek early this morning. The firefighters had rescued two individuals when the zodiac boat overturned and Chief Tobben was thrown from the boat and drowned. The Columbia Firefighter and the two victims originally rescued were able to be rescued and are doing ok.

Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.

Scott Olsen, Fire Chief
Boone County Fire Protection District
