When I first moved to Farmington as a brand new graduate I had no idea what to expect. But very quickly I knew that I was exactly where I was meant to be.

I worked in the schools for 13 years and a big part of my success there, especially as I started my career and my family, was my mentor Linda Calkins.

Now as I enter a new season of my SLP life it is so amazing that she’s right there for me once again, being a source of wisdom and support.

Meet your SLP!

Welcome to My Speech Place! I am Ingrid, SLP & Owner. I have lived in New Mexico and practiced in New Mexico since 2011. I attended New Mexico State University and met my husband there. He was born and raised in Farmington and after visiting the area over the years I fell in love! We decided to start our family here - in the Four Corners area.

I have a Bachelor's degree from New Mexico State University in Psychology with a double-major in Languages and Linguistics. I graduated with a Master's degree from the University of Texas at Dallas in Communication Sciences and Disorders.

I grew up in Chihuahua, Mexico and I am
one of the few Spanish-Bilingual Speech-Language Pathologists in the United States (8% of all SLPs are Multilingual providers).

I have been an SLP since the Fall of 2011. I have worked in the SNF setting, in Early Intervention, preschool, middle school, and with K-5 populations. I am currently expanding my clinical work in partnership with Lazy River Therapy Services LLC and seeing private clients locally as well as continuing to be available for remote consultative work in both New Mexico and Colorado.

I reimagined what My Speech Place would be last year around this time. I designed a new logo, new colors, and new goals but I could have never imagined what this year would bring. I have left my job at the schools and I’m venturing into private practice and clinical work. My setting is changing but my values are the same provide services that prioritize Community, Connection, and Collaboration.
