According to folklore, there is magic in the leaves that fall from trees BUT only if it is caught by human hands before landing. If the leaf touches the ground, its magic is said to be lost forever.

The Halloween (Samhain) tradition of catching a falling leaf began long ago in England where it was believed to bring continued happiness for the next 12 months.

It is important, however, to never bring dead leaves into your house because they will render you and your family susceptible to bad luck. In contrast, dead leaves that blow into your house on their own accord are said to bring good luck.

Card of the Day: Citrine

The perfect oracle card for the recent Sabbat, Citrine is a stone of joy and abundance. Take time to give thanks for the bountiful harvest that will take us though the cold winter and know that over the next several months you will have all that you need.

Blessed Alban Elfed / Mabon / Autumn Equinox!

This is a time of the second harvest, literally we reap what we sow. It is a time of rest and celebration after the toil of the harvest. The name Mabon comes from Celtic lore; Mabon is a Welsh god, son of Modron, the Earth Mother goddess.

According to folklore, this is a time where the Sun hold Darkness as equal and subsequently is unable to outshine the Dark, resulting in shorter, colder days and longer nights. Some observe this as the old Sun god returning to the goddess or the transition of the goddess from Mother to Crone.

Despite the increasing darkness, it is a time of feasting and celebration of the bountiful harvest.

Symbols of the celebration:
wine, gourds, pine cones, acorns, grains, corn, apples, pomegranates, vines such as ivy, dried seeds, and horns of plenty.

Herbs of the celebration:
Acorn, benzoin, ferns, grains, honeysuckle, marigold, milkweed, myrrh, passionflower, rose, sage, solomon's seal, to***co, thistle, and vegetables.

Foods of the celebration:
Breads, nuts, apples, pomegranates, and vegetables such as potatoes, carrots, and onions.

Enjoy this glorious day!

Bright blessings,
Wmffre
