This breathing technique can be used whenever & wherever.

Book recommendations!! 📚

The Joy Choice: okay I’m literally giving away all my secrets as a health coach by recommending this book. It is SO good. It’s perfect if you’re struggling to make lasting change and wondering “what is wrong with me?” Spoiler alert: nothing!! Michelle Segar teaches us how to make daily choices, JOYFULLY, to succeed at our health goals.

Nourish: this book is basically a plant-based bible for families. It’s for anyone wanting to increase plants on their plants and make dietary changes within their families. It’s so informative and has information for every stage of life!

Saving Us: goes over the what of climate change, the why it’s important, and the how we can combat it, and talk to just about anyone about it. It’s definitely a must read for anyone who cares about the Earth!

I learned so many wonderful things this week. The common message was to not complicate health. Keep nutrition simple. Prioritize plants on your plate. It’s no question that eating foods in their pure, unprocessed, form is best for our health and the environment.

Today, we use about 50% of the Earth’s habitable land for agriculture, and nearly 80% of land is used for growing livestock, which only produces 20% of the worlds supply of calories.

Studies show if everyone shifted to a more plant-based diet (mainly cutting out beef and dairy), we would see a 75% reduction in land use for agriculture. We could use this land to grow food for humans instead of livestock.

Research shows if everyone cut down on meat consumption (again, mainly beef and dairy), and increased their intake of whole foods, we would be able to nutritiously feed everyone in the world.

Choose to eat simply, so that others may simply eat. 💚🌱

Last week I taught a short yoga flow on the last day of our backpacking trip. I honestly cannot think of a better way to connect with, and feel gratitude for, Mother Earth 🙏🏼🌎

It was the perfect end to an amazing trip. It gave us a moment to stop and reflect on the beauties we hiked and camped through, as well as notice and become more mindful of our role in the ecosystem.

Today, and everyday, I am thankful for this incredible Earth I get to call home. I am grateful for the resources she provides and pray that I use those precious resources mindfully, respectfully, and without greed.

Today, and everyday, I challenge you to do something to give back to Mother Earth.

Go plastic free. Eat a meat free meal. Turn off lights and unplug electronics not in use. Start a garden. Shop local. Compost your food scraps. Walk outside barefoot. Pick up trash you see on walks. Plant flowers for pollinators. Recycle. Become more mindful of the impact you have on the Earth- It’s bigger than you think.

New Years affirmations > New Years resolutions ✌🏼

Positive affirmations, when repeated regularly, have the power to increase self-worth by boosting a positive opinion of yourself and what you are capable of. Repeating affirmations also increases your abilities to reach your goals and decreases feelings of stress, anxiety, and fear.

✨ To create affirmations for your own life, first think about areas you’d like to focus on or improve in. For me, this year I want to focus on being more present- I am very futuristic and overthink EVERYTHING. I’m always thinking about what will happen next and creating expectations that often lead to me feeling disappointed, discouraged, and defeated.

✨ Next, think of a positive opposite to the area you’d like to improve and write it down. Affirmations are generally written in present tense, starting with “I” and are short so they can be easily remembered and repeated. My New Years affirmations will help me to be mindful of each moment and understanding that I have worth and purpose every moment of every day. They will help decrease the amount of anxiety and fear I have of the future and allow me to love myself completely- exactly as I am.
