The Howard County Sheltered Services Board is able to open an Organizational Grant Application cycle for Community Inclusion and Accessibility Projects that serve our citizens with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in Howard County. The focus of the grants is to assist our citizens with developmental disabilities to be included as contributing members in our local society. The grants can focus on inclusion, accessibility, employment, healthy living, sensory integration, recreation, civic engagement, learning and educational progress, support groups, positive mental health, environmental adaptions, transportation, life-skills training, and advocacy.
Developmental disabilities include, but are not limited to, intellectual disabilities, epilepsy, autism, head injuries, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, genetic disorders, behavioral disorders, speech disorders, mental health concerns, certain learning disabilities and accompanying mobility issues, just to name a few.
Consideration must be given to the following criteria:
1. All tax levy funding decisions will be made by HCSSB in accordance with SB40 enabling legislation and authority under RSMo 205.968-205.972 and RSMo 178.900.
2. HCSSB Tax Levy provides funding for services and programs to benefit Howard County citizens of all ages with developmental disabilities to reside in, be employed in and belong to their community. These resources will be used to promote the outcome of self-determination and increased independence.
3. HCSSB reserves the right to deny or limit funding based upon fund availability and/or lack of compliance with funding applications or agreements as listed by policy for the type of solicitation.
4. HCSSB tax levied funds will not supplant other funding options.
5. These grants are not guaranteed each year.

The deadline for submittal of applications is 5:00 pm on March 31. Funds will be granted by May 31.
