The Maple Crest Correspondence-May 2026- Nursing Home Week Recap, A Week of Wonderful
Nursing home week is something we look forward to all year. A time to celebrate our residents alongside our staff and say thank you for all that makes Maple Crest such an amazing place.
This year was no exception. The week was full of fun, memory making events that we are still excitedly buzzing about and sharing. We hope you enjoy this fun recap off all the events that took place!
The week started out by celebrating the successful completion of our 3rd C.N.A. class with 4 students having completed the necessary requirements to be able to take the state C.N.A. tests and become certified aides in the state of Iowa. We are thrilled to be able to offer this education right here at Maple Crest and it was a great way to kickstart our celebrations.
Monday we were met with so many smiling faces from North Fayette Valley’s FFA class along with their furry and feathery friends. We spent an entire morning outside loving on lambs, calves, kittens, puppies, chicks, and goats. The kids shared their stories on how they became involved in ag and where they hope to take it in the future while reminiscing with the residents about how they used to be involved. It was such a special morning and cannot thank NFV FFA enough.
Tuesday was our tour of the tables event. For lunch, different staff members signed up to decorate a different table in the dinning room. It is always so fun to see what themes everyone comes up with, from USA and beach themes to farm and flowers. They were all so fun and the residents had a blast voting. Dietary member Shirley U., took home the win for best decorated and won a fun summer cooler on wheels. Congrats, Shirley!
Wednesday blew up, literally. St. Croix Hospice came in to help us celebrate by hosting blow up costume relay races. Staff of St. Croix suited up to compete against the staff of Maple Crest and they were off. The laughter was non stop as these goofy characters raced in pure chaos. We are excited to bring this event back again.
Thursday saw the savory delight of The Funky Pepperoni Pizza Truck. They were slinging pizzas the whole time they were here and we are grateful to the community for stopping by and supporting them. We love to have vendors come, but can’t make it happen without the support of all of you, so thank you! That afternoon we held our talent show where we learned the hidden talents of a number of our staff and residents. From singing and floral arrangements to sausage stick making and woodworking, it was fun to learn so much about others.
Friday we rounded out the week with our staff appreciation night. Board members and families came and treated our staff to BBQ ribs, hotdogs, and tons of sides and desserts while their kiddos got to jump on a big bounce house and meet fellow coworkers and families. It was a great night of reminiscing and slowing down just long enough to show appreciation to all of those that make Maple Crest such a great place!
So, once again, thank you! From our residents and tenants, to our staff and community, we are proud to be here and serve Fayette and the surrounding communities. We hope to see you all at our 50th anniversary celebration with music, a car show, cake, and tours on June 28th from 2p-4p.
