THE MAPLE CREST CORRESPONDENCE-September 2025-Goblins Galore-A Haunting Tradition
For as long as many of us can remember Halloween at Maple Crest Campus has been a yearly tradition. No matter what the weather, the halls of the manor have been a warm place met with giant smiles as each goblin and ghoul passed through to collect their treats.
For kids, the lore of Maple Crest has lived on for generations. Tales of heavy treat bags and shared excitement to walk the halls and feel like a superstar as the residents and tenants cheer on each fun costume that parades past. Parents that once traveled the halls on Halloween night are now bringing their children in to help create a shared core memory and we could not be more excited to keep this tradition going.
However, this Halloween happening is more than just an amazing night for our local kiddos, it is night of reminiscing on fond memories for our residents and tenants. We love to spend the night sharing stories of our own favorite Halloween costumes from past years, bickering over which candy is superior (maybe snagging one or two of our favorites for ourselves), and wondering what houses are giving out the full size candy bars this year. We smile as outgoing kiddos approach in full character and others hide behind their parent unsure of this whole thing. We love it all just the same and find pieces of ourselves in each one.
With as much as this event means to our residents, tenants, staff, and community, we would love if you would consider donating to this memorable night. Monetary donations can be made out to Maple Crest with the note “Halloween” or you can Venmo . Candy or treat donations may be dropped off at any time at 100 Bolger Drive Fayette, IA 52142. We also are always looking for volunteers willing to partner up with our residents to help them hand out treats and enjoy the night. This year, Maple Crest’s trick-treat event will take place on Halloween night from 4:30-5:30. We will have you enter through the nursing home entrance where you will follow down the north hallway into the assisted living where you will be able to exit and continue on with your adventures. We hope to see you there. It is sure to be another spooktacular evening!
