Katherine's Place At Wedington

Katherine's Place at Wedington, a place where neighbors become friends, where everyday living is enhanced by meaningful things to do.

We are recreating the culture of long-term care by providing an environment where our elders live in a community with individual neighborhoods. What this means to our elders is that they choose just how much independence they wish to enjoy, whether it’s helping plan a meal, helping cook a meal or setting a table. It may be helping plan an activity or social event or taking part in a resident council meeting. It’s all up to our elders through our liberating and innovate approach to their care. This has helped Katherine’s Place at Wedington become the place where residents become neighbors and neighbors become friends.

Our employee highlight is Savannah 🤩🎉
Savannah has been a Katherine’s place employee for 7 years now 🎉
When Savannah is not working she is spending time with her daughter Evelyn playing at the park and going for walks.
Savannah makes a huge difference every day for her residents and coworkers, she has many great memories and friendships built over her past 7 years here with us.
Congratulations Savannah on being our employee highlight we greatly appreciate you and all of your hard work

🌟 This week, we are celebrating Housekeeping, Laundry, and Maintenance Week at Katherine’s Place!
They are the backbone of our facility. From keeping our home fresh and welcoming, to ensuring every light works and every room sparkles, to making sure residents always have clean clothes and linens — they do it all with care and dedication. 💙

Their hard work often happens behind the scenes, but the impact is felt by every resident, family member, and staff member each and every day. Today, we say a big THANK YOU for all you do to keep our home safe, comfortable, and beautiful. 🧹🧺🔧

We want to also thank Elite Home Health - Springdale, CenterWell Home Health, and Care IV Home Health for providing delicious food this week!

On National Teddy Bear Day, Katherines Place is celebrating with a fun-filled day of cuddly teddy bears, arts and crafts, and customized tie-dyed shirts for our residents' bears. The day has been filled with storytelling and reminiscing about favorite childhood teddy bears and cherished memories. We would like to thank Olivia, our Activities Director, for making the day so enjoyable and heartwarming. A big bear hug is the perfect way to cap off the celebration! 🐻🎉

With college back in session, Katherine's Place at Wedington would like to spotlight "Doc" to talk about his college experience. Doc was raised in Louisiana where he completed grades K-12 in the same town he was raised in. He went to college at Louisiana Tech for 2 years where he got his Bachelors degree. He mentioned "some days, I didn't even know what I was doing, but somehow I made it." Originally, he thought he wanted to get a degree in Forestry. He married and had 3 children. He later felt a strong calling to study ministry, so he enrolled to Luther-Rice Seminary in Florida where he spent 12 years getting his Doctrine in Theology. He later would gain the nickname of "Doc" by his son-in-law. After college, he taught algebra at school for a small community for 6 months and 1 day. He was also the school bus driver for the school. He stated that he often seen his students Monday through Friday, and then on Sunday at church. He then went on to pastor many churches. When Doc was asked if he has any advice to give our college students, he said these 3 things: 1. "If you can help it, don't get married in college. It will take away from your family time." 2."Serve your community and your country in any capacity you can, even in college." 3. "Go to a school that will teach you the history of America." We are so blessed to have Doc at Katherine's Place!
