Have you heard of dry needling for c-section scars?!

This before and after was after just 3 needling sessions (with the ESTIM). You can see less thickness of the scar and less overall redness. What you can’t see is the improvement in scar mobility as well as improvements in patients urinary urgency and frequency complaints. 🙌

Dry needling works great for improving scar tissue by:
✅ Improving blood flow
✅ Decreasing inflammation
✅ Promotes wound healing processes in the tissue
✅ Decreases pain

Questions about dry needling? Let us know! All of our therapists perform this technique to help moms recover faster after c-section.

In a 2021 cross-sectional survey, almost half (46%)
of women reported pelvic floor symptoms as the main
reason for cessation of sport or participation in exercise, especially higher impact activity. This has major implications for health of women throughout all stages of life. And yes, you can experience pelvic floor symptoms without experiencing childbirth.

As a society we should have a goal to keep women active throughout the lifespan, not create a stigma around pelvic floor dysfunction, causing women to not seek treatment and take on a more sedentary lifestyle. Can I get an amen 🙌 in the comments if you agree?!

If this is you, we would be honored to help you return
to the activities you love . DM me “ACTIVE” to learn more about our in-person or virtual services.

There are so many factors that affect our pelvic floor health. Whether dealing with pelvic pain, incontinence, prolapse or constipation the issue is never just "a pelvic floor issue". This is why:

❌kegels *alone* will not solve your pelvic floor
symptoms like leakage or prolapse
❌Why transverse abdominus strengthening *alone* won't heal diastasis recti
❌Why you won't get very far managing pain if you don't address the brain
❌Why stretching more won't relieve your low back or hip tightness

When it comes to your pelvic health, find a provider who addresses you as a whole. If you're wanting to find someone to help you get to the root cause of your symptoms our team of pelvic floor therapists are here to help you find lasting relief!

It still baffles me that it’s 2024 and physical therapy is not the standard of care after cesarean surgery. Being sent home after this major abdominal surgery to figure it out for yourself AND care for a newborn is honestly a disservice to mothers. Learning ahead of time how to:
💫connect to your breath and deep core within those early weeks
💫support your healing incision with proper body mechanics
💫understand gentle movements to begin before 6 weeks
💫how to take care of your cesarean scar
💫suggestions for bowel and bladder health
pelvic floor support - and more!

✅ Being proactive about your cesarean recovery is a whole lot easier than being reactive in my opinion. Also PLEASE remember just because you are “cleared” at 6 weeks does not mean your body is ready (to return to exercise or even s3x). You just had major abdominal surgery. Pelvic Floor Therapy can help you safely return to these activities.
