We are proud to introduce student Erikka Bracken to the Foundation team this semester! Erikka grew up in Los Angeles, California and made her way to Fayetteville after joining the military. She is a student at Fayetteville State University and will be graduating this May with a Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems and Business Analytics with a concentration in Data Analytics. Following graduation, Erikka is interested in pursuing a career in business intelligence, financial analytics or revenue analytics. She says that what she enjoys most about her time at the Foundation is meeting new people and seeing how everything comes together. Erikka has been working hard over the past few months and has already made a significant impact.

As Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation continues to evolve to better serve our community, our core mission remains the same: providing exceptional healthcare for all our patients. This season of renewal is the perfect time to refresh your plans and bring that same sense of order, clarity and care to your future. By creating or updating your will, you can make decisions that bring peace of mind to you and your family, such as:
● Who should be the trusted guardian of your children and pets
● Which individuals and organizations should receive your assets
● Who should make healthcare decisions on your behalf, if you are unable to do so

To make this process easy, we have partnered with FreeWill. To learn how you can use this free, secure online resource, click here: https://frwill.link/413nKZ9

We are grateful to have a wonderful team of NODA volunteers who bring so much compassion to the hospital every day. ❤️

Celebrating National Volunteer Week this week, we’ll be highlighting just a few of the incredible volunteers who make a difference every day at Cape Fear Valley Health.

Today, we recognize our No One Dies Alone (NODA) volunteers. This 100% volunteer-run program provides companionship to end-of-life hospital patients who do not have loved ones by their side.

Our NODA volunteers offer comfort, dignity, and compassion in a patient’s final hours by playing soft music, reading, praying or meditating according to the patient’s beliefs, alerting staff to any physical discomfort, and providing thoughtful comforts like warm blankets, flowers, lotion, lip balm, battery-powered candles, religious items, and handwritten cards.
Their kindness ensures that no patient is ever alone in their final moments.

Yesterday was an exciting day at Cape Fear Valley Health, as the team from ABC11 WTVD visited to learn about music therapy and its impact on our behavioral health patients. 🎶

Thanks to the generosity from the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County, Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation received a $12,000 grant to support music therapy programs in both the Adult Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit and the Dorothea Dix Adolescent Care Unit at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. These programs are helping patients heal, express themselves and find moments of connection through music.

🔗 Watch the full story here below.

Many patients in the program are being treated for stress, schizophrenia, or bipolar disorder.
