Smoothies don't need to be complicated. My typical recipe includes a scoop of protein (I always use ), frozen fruit, milk of choice, and a serving of fiber (I rotate between psyllium husk ,ground flaxseed or chia seeds). The combinations you can create are endless. Today I used vanilla protein, frozen mixed berries, almond milk, and 1 tsp psyllium (a prebiotic fiber that feeds the good bacteria in the gut). I drink a smoothie for my first meal of the day most days of the week. I love them. 💕 🥤🍒

The Center for Human Nutrition and the Exercise is Medicine program at the University of Arkansas are recruiting adults over the age of 18 years to participate in research related to health and behavior.

The DFEND (Diet, Food, Exercise, and Nutrition During social distancing) research study is a 20-week education program which involves 30-minute educational meetings once per week, weekly health and behavior challenges, and the opportunity to meet weekly with personalized coaches.

Compensation for full participation for the first 75 people to sign up. Anyone can join the DFEND educational sessions for free without signing up for the research study.

A great refresher with some fun ideas - it's easy to get into a rut with what we offer to our kids. I challenge you to try something new this week! We recently bought pluots (which are 75% plum and 25% apricot) and the boys are loving them!

Simple Thai Peanut Sauce:
3/4 cup natural peanut butter or 3/4 cup peanut butter powder mixed with 6 tbsp water
3 tbsp seasoned rice vinegar
2 tbsp maple syrup (or honey if not vegan)
1/4 cup soy sauce (I used reduced sodium)
1/4 cup water
Optional: red chili flakes or fresh cilantro

Blend all ingredients in a blender or mix very well in a medium bowl. Stir in the refrigerator, covered, for up to 1 week. Shake before using.

I use this sauce on so much! Salads, in stir fry, or just on top of brown rice and steamed veggies. Please tag me if you make it! 🥬🌿🥦

Everyone needs a go-to muffin recipe - double tap if you agree! These whole wheat banana muffins fit the bill, and are packed with fiber, protein and healthy fats. The whole fam gobbled them up today for breakfast - it was rainy, chilly and I knew I wanted to bake something sweet yet satisfying. 🍌

We are on a waffle kick over here lately!
These beauties are gluten and grain free, high fiber, high protein, and will not result in a blood sugar crash mid morning. Today I topped them with thawed mixed berries and low sugar syrup, but they also pair deliciously with jam, nut butter, yogurt, or even ricotta cheese and fruit 🧀🍓
