Today, I pause.

Dr. King didn’t just dream — he worked.
He believed service was love in action, and that progress required courage, sacrifice, and community.

This day always makes me think about legacy — the one I inherited, and the one I’m building.
My father believed in opening doors where none existed. I carry that with me every day as a Black woman, a surgeon, a business owner, and a leader.

Today isn’t about quotes.
It’s about action.

So here’s my ask:
Do one good deed today.
Show kindness where it isn’t expected.
Listen where you usually speak.
Extend grace to someone who doesn’t look like you.

That’s how progress continues.

Word of the Week: TENESMUS

Ever feel like you still need to go… even after you just went?

That sensation has a name — Tenesmus.

It’s the constant or urgent feeling that your bowels aren’t empty, even when they are. And no, it’s not “in your head.”

Tenesmus can be associated with:
• Pelvic floor dysfunction
• Re**al inflammation
• Hemorrhoids or fissures
• IBS or IBD
• Post-surgical changes

If you’re dealing with this regularly, it’s your body asking for attention — not something to ignore or push through.
