I had to keep this quiet for a minute… and let me tell you, that was hard. 😅

I’m incredibly honored to share that I’ve been selected to serve on the first-ever Medical Advisory Board for the Women’s National Football Conference (WNFC) — the premier professional tackle football league for women in the United States. 🏈

Football has always been a sport I love, and seeing women compete at this level is powerful. 💪🏾💫

Now I get to help support the health, safety, and care of these incredible athletes alongside an amazing group of medical professionals.

Women in sports deserve the same level of medical expertise, protection, and advocacy as anyone else.

I’m excited to play a small role in helping move that forward.

And yes… keeping this secret for a week was NOT easy. 😂

One of the most common concerns patients share before this procedure is fear of pain and uncertainty about recovery.

This patient generously shared her experience so others considering the procedure could hear directly from someone who has gone through it.

She traveled from another state for procedure with Dr. Erin King-Mullins as 90% of our ***yTouchUp patients do.

Her experience highlighted something we strive for every day in our practice: clear communication, compassionate care, and a smooth recovery process.

T***y Touch Up™ is designed to restore comfort and function for patients experiencing concerns such as excess skin after hemorrhoids, irritation, or changes after childbirth.

Sometimes the first step is simply a consultation. 💙

Fast Friday in the OR all day!

Today is a full day of screening colonoscopies — and honestly, these are some of my favorite days.

Because every colonoscopy we perform is an opportunity to prevent cancer before it starts. 🙌🏿

Here’s something many people don’t realize:
Colorectal cancer is the 2nd leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States.

But it’s also one of the most preventable cancers we see!

During a colonoscopy, we can find and remove polyps before they ever turn into cancer.

So if you’re 45 or older, or if your doctor has recommended screening, don’t wait.

During Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, the message is simple:

Episode 2 of The Love Below features a powerful conversation about something many people have never heard of: Pelvic floor physical therapy.

Dr. Erin King-Mullins spoke with Dr. Jennifer McGowan of ReGenerate Physiotherapy about how pelvic floor dysfunction can contribute to symptoms like:
• Constipation
• Difficulty emptying your bowels
• Urinary leakage
• Pelvic pain
• Pain during in*******se
• Pelvic organ prolapse

Many patients go through extensive testing for digestive issues before discovering that pelvic floor muscles may be the underlying cause.

Pelvic floor therapy evaluates muscle coordination, breathing patterns, posture, and nervous system responses to help restore healthy function.

During Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, a few numbers are worth paying attention to.
• People who drink two alcoholic drinks per day have a higher risk of colorectal cancer.
• 1 in 25 men will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer in their lifetime.
• 1 in 26 women will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer in their lifetime.
Those numbers are real.
But here’s the part many people don’t realize:
Colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable cancers we see.
A colonoscopy can detect and remove precancerous polyps before they ever become cancer.
So the question is simple.
Have you had enough?
If you’re 45 or older, talk to your doctor about getting screened, or give me a call to schedule your appointment. Urge you and your circle to .

During Episode 1 of The Love Below, someone asked a great question:

Can fibroids cause constipation or bowel problems?

According to fibroid and endometriosis specialist — absolutely.

Because the uterus and colon sit very close together in the pelvis, large fibroids can sometimes press on the colon and affect bowel movements.

That pressure can lead to symptoms such as:

• Constipation
• Painful bowel movements
• Back pain
• Diarrhea
• Persistent changes in bowel habits

One interesting point from the discussion: sometimes diarrhea can occur when something is partially blocking the colon, because only liquid stool is able to pass through.

This clip comes from Episode 1 of The Love Below, where we talk about how gynecologic conditions and colorectal health can overlap.

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and the conversations around prevention are becoming more important every year.

Many families facing colorectal cancer also face another challenge:
How do you explain it to children?

As a colorectal surgeon — and a mom — I wanted to create something that could help families have those conversations in a way that felt honest but not overwhelming.

That’s why I wrote a small series of children’s books:

📚 Mommy Gets a Colonoscopy
📚 Mommy, I Made a Boo Boo
📚 Mommy Has to Talk About Her Colon Cancer

They’re designed to help children understand screening, treatment, and what’s happening when someone they love is going through a health journey.

With colorectal cancer now affecting younger adults more than ever, helping families talk about it openly matters.

The books are available on Amazon if your family or someone you know could benefit from them.

Sometimes the best way to reduce fear is simply helping children understand.
