🌟 OT Month Spotlight: Why Crawling Matters 🌟
At SCSS, we’re celebrating Occupational Therapy Month by highlighting one of the most important (and often overlooked!) developmental milestones… CRAWLING 💙
Crawling is so much more than just getting from point A to point B—it builds the foundation for so many critical skills:
✨ Strengthens shoulders, arms, and core
✨ Develops coordination between both sides of the body
✨ Supports fine motor skills (hello, future handwriting!)
✨ Builds visual tracking and spatial awareness
✨ Lays the groundwork for independence and confidence
✨ Supports feeding development through improved postural stability, core strength, and oral-motor coordination
Even if your child prefers to walk early or skip crawling, practicing crawling can still be incredibly beneficial!
Our OTs love incorporating crawling into play-based therapy to support whole-body development—including skills needed for feeding, play, and daily routines—in a fun and meaningful way 🫶
Every movement matters—and we’re here to support each step (and crawl!) along the way 💫
