▫️what does it cost?▫️

this is something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. everything, yep everything, comes with a cost.

we all have choice, and our choices effect our lives. the effects may be immediate, or down the road. they may be major, or they may be minor.

here are some areas that I’ve been wrestling with the costs, and what choices I want to make

🧠 Mental Health:
🏋️‍♀️ 🌽 Physical Health
📚⛪️Personal and Spiritual Growth

I know firsthand that there are costs for each of these!
•financial- the cost of counseling, increased cost to buy better quality foods or pursue care that insurance doesn’t cover
•time. time to go to counseling, time to meal prep, grocery shop, to work out, to get outside, to read and journal and meditate.
•maybe the people around you don’t support you in this so you have to do it alone?
•vulnerability and humility
•comfort. its uncomfortable to change our routines and habits!
•the effort to make lasting changes!

but...what are the costs to not investing in these areas?
•finances- doctor 💰 doctor 💰 doctor (medical bills! mental health that isn’t dealt with often affects our physical bodies in many different forms) our physical health that isn't taken care of requires tons of medical attention! (high blood pressure, obesity, heart issues, etc.)
•strained relationships
•stress, anxiety, depression, you name it. (did you know your food and physical health links DIRECTLY to your mental health?!)
•not knowing your full worth, your value, and fully loving yourself.

the costs for choosing to invest in our mental and physical health and our spiritual and personal growth may seem burdensome and intimidating, but I PROMISE you, those costs are worth it compared to the costs of not investing in those areas. these choices don't all change over night. it is a daily battle to choose what is best for ourselves in the long run.

Which cost is more worth it to you?
What is one choice you are going to make this week to invest in your future self?

You are worthy of the cost and I am so proud of you in this journey 🤍

🍁 October 🍁

Anyone else in near-complete denial that it’s already October?! 🙋🏻‍♀️😅

Today I most definitely caught a case of the “friday’s”. I wasn’t being productive and being inside wasn’t making anything better!

So, I shut off the laptop, went on a walk and then came to the garage to do what clears my head the most. DIY!

If you know me, or saw on my website, you have probably learned that I love to learn how to DIY things. We have done so many house projects and I am so proud of them!

This dresser-nightstand thing I have been tinkering with for the past 6 months or so. I’ve wanted to quit a lot because I know it’s not perfect, but I am also a little bit too stubborn to quit this far in.

So whether it turns out well or not, here we are!

And I’m sharing it here so you can hold me accountable to finishing it 😅

Even though it’s a little bit too warm to call it October, get outside this evening and do something you love!

What’s a hobby you have?! Tell me below!! ⬇️⬇️

on saturday I did something I said I never could or would do.

I ran the entire length of a half marathon. 13.1 miles.

if you don’t know this about me, before this whole adventure started I had never run.

this first picture is me wiping the tears off my face as I cried crossing the finish line feeling so humbled and so proud at the same time.

this training process taught me SO many things that I know directly correlates to overall well-being.

first and foremost. it is NOT just a physical game. people tell you that all the time but I didn’t realize how true it was until this training and the final race. my body wasn’t feeling great all last week. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to do it. but throughout this training, I’ve been training my mind. training my mind to believe I CAN do this, I AM capable, I AM strong, and even though i’m not the best runner, I AM worthy to run this race. 6 months of repeating that every time I ran. so on saturday, I ran and believed it.
but more importantly I believe it today. and will choose to believe it everyday from here on out.

I will be the first to admit 🙋🏻‍♀️ that my self confidence has not been the best. and I often times find my self talking down to myself. That changes now. Because if I am going to be everything God has created me to be, I have to believe I am everything God already says I am.

second-this run brought me so much closer to the Lord. I had to lean on Him for strength and healing so many times these past 6 months. It’s so humbling to be able to focus on and pursue something above myself.

third-physically. man. I am capable of so much more than I ever thought I’d be! And nope! I didn’t lose a pound throughout this!! it’s not about the numbers! it’s about loving who you are in any given moment, and respecting and thanking your body for what it did for you each day-especially on the not so great days. there were hard days. there were injuries where i had to WAIT for my body to heal, there was fear and doubt I couldn’t do this. which leads me to...

✈️ vacation! ✈️

is this something you prioritize in your life?

I am a FIRM believer in taking time to get away, reset, and refresh.

Now, I know it comes with sacrifices-time, money, etc. But we do what we prioritize. If you save, plan, and value the importance of time away, it can happen! And it doesn’t have to be some 2 week caribbean island getaway!! It can be a one night hotel stay in a nearby city, a weekend trip somewhere within driving distance, staying with family-anything! You get to be creative and decide what is best for you and your family.

Matt and I got to take a long weekend to visit my family in one of my favorite places- Michigan. Where the sky is the bluest it can be and the grass is the most vibrant shade of green (and the most comfortable to lay in!)

Staying with family allows for affordability, yet we are sure to carve out time for things to do for just us-making it the best of both worlds. We ate our body weight in food (anyone with Italian 🇮🇹 families out there? 🍝 ), rested as we watched the clouds move by, and saw new sights.

I want you to tell me when YOUR next vacation is! And if you don’t have one planned, I want you to start dreaming and planning! I promise you won’t regret it!
Tell me below! 👇🏼

thankful for you, thankful for this space, and thankful for rest to be able to be my best self for those around me.

🎉celebrate!🎉

last week, matt and i went out to celebrate this business, Blooms of Grace, and all that God has done to help us get this far.

So much of my practice is new and growing, but there’s been a lot of work and sacrifice to get to this point and it is SO important to celebrate getting to this point!

Celebrating goals, milestones, and accomplishments (and YOURSELF!!) is absolutely essential! It allows for reflection on the past and dreaming and planning for the future. ✨

I want you to share with me, either in the comments or a DM, what is something you’re working towards that you are going to COMMIT to celebrating?

you are worth it 🤍

ps. thanks to for the yummy dinner and for the HUGE, delicious ice cream to help us celebrate!

🤍how are you? 🤍

when someone asks you that question, how do you respond?
probably with “good” or “fine”, right?

i call those chicken nugget🍗 words (and i need filet mignon words!🥩) Then, i usually ask my clients, okay now how are you, reallyyy?

when people ask me how i am on the day to day, i try to respond with a genuine answer!
why?
⬇️
1. they asked! if they don’t want to really know, then they shouldn’t ask😂
2. it forces me to be in touch with the thoughts and feelings really going on.
3. vulnerability and honesty takes practice!
4. it slows me down and reminds me to take the time to listen to others.

we are a society of busy-ness and productivity. which can be good, but often times we neglect ourselves and others by not being in touch with how we are really doing: our thoughts and our feelings and needs. and we also are not taking the time to listen to others and give them that same opportunity.

▪️right now▪️ i want you to pause and genuinely check in on yourself?
how am i doing? what am i feeling? what’s something i need?

and! i want you to ask someone how they are really doing today and give them the opportunity to share honestly with you.

happy friday, friends. you are loved and worth listening to 🤍

💻 telehealth 💻

it’s something that has become fairly common over the past year and a half, and has become a blessing in many ways!

For me, it has created the opportunity to continue seeing clients even after moving to a different city.

I’ll be honest though, at first even I 🙋🏻‍♀️ was skeptical that therapy could “work” via telehealth!

BUT I’m here to tell you that if DOES work! Is it for everyone, no. But that’s normal and okay! If you are hesitant about telehealth, I definitely understand, but try it out! If you don’t like it, then we will absolutely find you a great fit with an in person therapist near you.

Some benefits of telehealth:
-flexibility in location (you can be anywhere in GA!)
-flexibility of time-lunch break session, anyone?!
-you can remain in your safe space
-ease of access

I have loved the opportunity to grow and learn while doing telehealth sessions and being able to see clients who may not be able to meet for therapy without the convenience of telehealth.

peaceful, slow, rainy mornings create opportunity for reflection and gratitude.

my dear friend took these photos for me and it reminds me of the absolute gift and necessity it is to have people in your corner. family, friends, teachers, therapists, classmates, whoever. find the people who are going to cheer you on, support you, encourage you when you can’t find it within yourself, and remind you that you are so worthy and so so loved.

we were not created to do life alone! (check out ecclesiastes 4:9 and genesis 2:18!)
in fact, studies show that there is an increase in depression when we are not engaging socially.
it may be difficult to reach out, but there are always people who are there for you. I want to encourage you to take the first steps towards that person today. you are worth it.

who are you thankful for in your life? give them a call and let them know 🤍🤍

✨anxious thoughts✨

one of my clients said this earlier in the week, and it was so incredibly profound.

when we are feeling anxious, or even depressed, it is often linked to a negative belief towards ourself. “i’m not good enough” “i’ve done something wrong” “i have to be perfect.” when we believe these thoughts in a certain moment, if we don’t correct it, it *will* define everything. everything we do, say, and feel.

BUT we can change that belief to create less anxiety, so that our everything has a new definition!

how we move through that anxiety is identifying the lie, and replacing it with true statements. “i’m not perfect, but i am worthy” “my friends and family DO want to be around me” “i am choosing to love myself as i grow”

our brains have created neuropathways with these negative beliefs, which is why they are so hard to change, but it IS possible. it takes diligence, accountability, and repetition. our brain is malleable! it just takes consistency.

i want to encourage you to be brave enough to call out those lies and not let them take root any longer. change those anxious moments so they don’t become your everything.

🤍you are loved

✨mondays✨

unpopular opinion-but i love mondays. truly!

they give me the chance to organize my week, refresh my house, and choose the attitude I want for the week.

it’s definitely taken practice to have this mindset and create these rhythms.

Here are my first 3 things for every monday:
1. Wake up early, make my bed, and start my coffee ☕️
2. Start a load of laundry
3. Sit in my favorite chair to journal and read

at that point, i feel level headed enough to tackle the to-dos of the week! if i skip those first three things, i feel frantic and it shows to everyone around me. take the time you need to start your day well.

how do you feel about mondays?
what rhythms do you want to start creating? tell me in the comments! ⬇️
start small! you don’t have to do it all at once. reminding you to give yourself grace today, friend 🤍

Hi!
Thank you to everyone who followed and shared this page-I am so thankful!
I wanted to share about the name of my practice, Blooms of Grace.

I have always loved flowers so so much. I also love and deeply admire the process of growing before there is the reward of a beautiful flower. The process of growth for a plant can be slow, challenging as they battle elements, have to push their way through soil, and occasionally depend on others for their survival. The journey in counseling can be similar. It can take time, patience, and the support of others around you to help you along the way. BUT, at the end of it all, there is a great and beautiful reward. For nature, the reward is to be in bloom, and for you, it is to be healed and whole, to know that you are loved and worthy and embody great strength.
And throughout our time together, I will frequently remind you to give yourself an abundance of grace. This growing and healing won’t happen overnight and you will have to work hard. So in moments of self-doubt or weariness, you will overcome by choosing to be gentle and kind to yourself in this process. So as you bloom, as you grow, and as you heal, you must learn to give yourself grace. And that, my friend, is a beautiful thing.
