What does a 36 year old implant look like? I see so many patients that have implants that are decades old and have never been reassessed. Implants are not life long devices and ALL implants will eventually leak or rupture given enough time. Mammograms and ultrasounds often miss a ruptured silicone implant and patients finally present, often years after they have ruptured, with pain, firmness or shape change. I believe it is important to regularly evaluate breast implants, especially silicone, over time. A complimentary consultation with me may help shed some light on unanswered questions or simply misinformation that has propagated through the internet and social media.

One of the more common procedures I perform, quite often in patients with significant weight loss, is an arm lift (brachioplasty). Patients typically complain of loose, jiggly skin of the upper arms and difficulty wearing clothing where the sleeves are too tight or simply being self conscious wearing short sleeves or sleeveless clothes. The procedure sometimes includes liposuction, there are no drains, and recovery is rapid. Patients can shower normally the next day and typically take one week off from work. The Infinity Umbilicoplasty is a unique way to create a NATURAL LOOKING belly button. My technique eliminates the telltale signs of a traditional tummy tuck that often result in a conspicuous circular scar by using a thoughtful design pattern and specially placing internal sutures to create hooding or natural looseness to the upper portion of the belly button while placing the lower portion under some tension with sutures sewn to the deep fascia thereby hiding the lower portion of the scar.

A dual plane approach with placement of a 560cc Allergan Natrelle SSF implant on the right side and a 520cc on the left nicely achieve this 34 year old patient’s goals of improving asymmetry and maximizing upper pole fullness. This technique helps centralize the implant and addresses the small amount of “natural lower breast sagging” which we call glandular ptosis.

Advanced Aesthetics=Advanced Results

I am so pleased and excited to announce so many important changes occurring in our practice, Advanced Aesthetic, this year! As I recently celebrated my 19th year in practice (all 19 in the same practice!) I reflected on how far we have come as a specialty, practice, and as individuals.

Our techniques and devices that we use daily in plastic surgery continue to evolve and improve our ability to provide patients with increasingly predictable, safe, and amazing results. We are proud to introdue the latest in RF technology to tighten skin without traditional surgery: BodyTite/FaceTite/AcuTite. Our launch event is early November (more to come).

We continue to add critical staff to our group as it continues to grow. We look forward to adding our fifth plastic surgeon to our practice and hope to offer our patients access to the latest and greatest in microsurgery and breast reconstruction following mastectomy.

This week has seen the opening of our newest office in Newnan, Georgia to bring our location offering to four separate counties in the southern crescent portion of Metro-Atlanta.
