It's National Veterinary Technician Week!

First celebrated in 1993, National Veterinary Technician Week is a way for us all to honor and recognize the everyday heroes taking care of your furry loved ones!

A veterinary technician is the all-encompassing term used to describe the very dedicated individuals working with your pets. They do far more than many people realize. When trying to explain their role, many will use the word nurse, but that still doesn't include all of their daily roles. They are the phlebotomist, anesthetist, surgical assistant, x-ray tech, hygienist, patient advocator, pharmacy technician, educator, and so much more!

To become a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), they must complete a degree from an accredited program, pass a national credentialing exam, meet the rigorous New York State licensing requirements, and then continue to complete continuing education requirements throughout their career.

So let's take a moment to acknowledge these wonderful ladies and all that they do!
