# # # 🌍 World Sepsis Day: Awareness Saves Lives! 🌍

Today, on World Sepsis Day, we join the global effort to raise awareness about sepsis—a life-threatening condition that affects millions each year. Sepsis can develop from infections and, if not recognized and treated promptly, can lead to severe complications or even death.

**What You Need to Know:**
- **Recognize the Symptoms:** Common signs include fever, chills, rapid heart rate, confusion, and difficulty breathing. If you or someone you know exhibits these symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.
- **Prevention is Key:** Good hygiene, timely vaccinations, and prompt treatment of infections can help reduce the risk of sepsis.
- **Act Fast:** Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial. The sooner sepsis is identified, the better the chances of recovery.

At Cape Fear Valley Health, we are committed to providing compassionate, quality healthcare and educating our community about the importance of recognizing and responding to sepsis. Together, we can save lives!

Meet Ryan Elliot, Patient Representative at Valley Orthopedics & Sports Medicine!

Ryan is a self-described people person whose favorite part of the job is interacting with patients and helping patients any way possible.

“I look at my patients as family,” Ryan said. “I’ve always had a heart to serve and help people.”

Ryan’s personality makes him a great fit as a patient rep – he is full of personality and has a strong sense of humor.

“I'm always told by my staff, ‘Ryan, you are so bubbly, I need your energy,’ he said. “I love that. It tells me I'm doing something right, and I am where I need to be. I've been told by quite a few patients "Ryan, God sent you here for people like me, keep doing what you're doing!"

Ryan says he loves working for Cape Fear Valley Health, not just because he loves the patients but also because he loves his co-workers like family.

“I LOVE MY TEAM,”” Ryan exclaims. “My coworkers impact me to know more about this job title and experience, plus GROWTH. I have said to a few of my coworkers, ‘I plan on retiring from Cape Fear Valley.’”

Thank you for all you do to make patients feel welcome, Ryan. You are appreciated!

🕊️ **Remembering September 11, 2001** 🕊️

Today, we pause to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost on that fateful day. Each individual had a unique story, filled with love, dreams, and aspirations. We remember the bravery of first responders and everyday heroes who risked their lives to save others.

As we reflect on the impact of 9/11, let us also celebrate the resilience of our communities and the spirit of unity that emerged in the aftermath. Together, we can ensure that the memories of those we lost continue to inspire acts of kindness and service.

Join us in remembering and honoring the victims, their families, and all who have been affected by this tragedy. Let us never forget. 🇺🇸

According to CNN, a new study found that 44% of people age 15 and older living with diabetes worldwide are undiagnosed — meaning they don't know they have the disease. If you experience any of these symptoms, experts recommend you promptly schedule a glucose screening.

Some 44% of people worldwide with diabetes are undiagnosed, according to a new study, but they would know to get lifesaving treatment if they did get tested.
