-Describe "why you exist"? "Educating, equipping, and empowering others to discover and create their best selves."

-Describe "what you do different" than other sports performance organizations? Holistic approach to sports performance meaning we take into account the person as a whole rather than just training their bodies. We look long-term together rather than short-term patches in their training, nutrition or recovery. Having someone genuinely caring about you and your health makes all the difference when it comes to becoming healthy and reaching your goals. And I believe that is what Kokoro Sports Performance does and will continue to do in the future. We care and connect with people to create a friendship and a partnership to take on their challenges and dreams together in order to become the best in whatever it is they do.

🌱Way to increase Insulin sensitivity:

Cook with herbs like cinnamon, turmeric, ginger, garlic and fennel

Drink green tea, or hot lemon water

Limit processed sugar and carbs

‼️It is important to note carbs and sugar are NOT the enemy.. what IS the enemy is too much consumption of them. You need carbs and sugar in your body but it needs to be in moderation and your body needs to know how to USE it otherwise it gets stored as fat and it makes you resistance to insulin production.

‼️Also important to note this is a VERY simplified explanation of insulin resistance but hopefully it begins a journey of understanding

Mini lecture time 🤓
🌱The body stores glucose in the muscles and liver so that it can use these stores for energy
🌱When the body can no longer store glucose (aka sugar) in the muscles and liver, it gets stored as triglycerides (aka fat)
🌱Insulin resistance occurs when the body is too saturated, no longer using the consumed sugars/carbs as full and it is no longer sensitive to the carbs/ sugars you intake and so it doesn’t know when and how much insulin (what is needed to break down sugars in the blood) to secrete or how to use it efficiently

🌱If you think you might be insulin resistant or your bodies ability to process and use carbs/sugar is impaired do this… minimize/track your intake for 21 days that will help reset your body and create more sensitivity and make sure you are eating a serving of protein with your carbs

Last night we reached the heart of wintertime. The focus for the next 2 weeks is to protect your yang(warmth) from harm or burnout. So you will need more rest and support for your Kidney root energy. Embrace nesting, and the pull towards slowing down and inward care and introspection. This is where dreams live and where we can start to give voice to the parts that are most hidden and buried.

Ways you can nourish your Yin:
✨Baths
✨Saying no, not spreading energy too thin
✨Sleep- going to bed earlier (sleeping with the sun)
✨Connection, quality time with loved ones
