Does VA pay for cremation or burial expenses?
VA does not pay for cremation directly. Any item or service obtained from a funeral home will be at the families' expense. Some Veterans' families may be entitled to a burial allowance

Can I be buried in a National Cemetery if I’m cremated?
Yes, either in ground or above ground placement is available, depending on the cemetery.

Can my spouse be buried with me in a VA National Cemetery?
Yes. However spousal benefits do not apply if the Veteran is buried in a private cemetery.

Our Veterans Services office, located at 301 E. Russell Street, will be closed on Friday, August 22, for training. During this closure, staff will be available to answer phone calls.
