Congratulations and Farewell to Mr. Richard Philipp!
After nine wonderful years with us, we are both proud and a little emotional to say goodbye to our beloved resident, Richard, as he begins a new chapter in assisted living.

During his time here, Richard filled our community with knowledge, creativity, and joy. Whether he was sharing fascinating stories from history, piecing together puzzles with care, singing along to his favorite tunes, or capturing moments through his drawings, he brought light and warmth to those around him. And let’s not forget his love for baseball—he was always ready to cheer on his team (Chicago Cubs) and chat about the game!

Richard, your presence here will be truly missed, but we are so excited for what lies ahead for you. We know you will continue to bring your curiosity, talents, and big heart wherever you go.

From all of us—thank you for the memories, and congratulations on your next adventure! 💛⚾🧩🎨🎶

⭐Resident Spotlight⭐
Carolina Rehab would like for everyone to meet Mr. John Hurst, a proud Detroit native born on November 27, 1955, who has lived a life full of adventure, service, and resilience. Growing up in Detroit as the middle child of five siblings, he learned early on the importance of family and determination.

After completing his education in Detroit, John enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving with honor during the Vietnam War. His time in the military shaped much of who he is today, instilling a sense of discipline and a strong work ethic that would guide him in all his future endeavors.

Once his military service was over, John decided to pursue a career in technology, becoming a computer engineer. His journey into this field was not an easy one, but with his drive and dedication, he built a successful career. He is a living testament to the power of reinvention and following one’s passions, no matter where life takes you.

Outside of work, John is a passionate traveler. His favorite part of exploring new cities is the anonymity it brings, enjoying the freedom of blending in without anyone knowing his name.

You can find John enjoying his favorite hobbies: dancing and listening to music. Whether it is a lively dance floor or a relaxed setting, he is always ready to move to the rhythm. He is also known for his charming personality and his love of flirting with beautiful women, always with a wink and a smile.

But perhaps the most important thing John would like to share with all of us is his motto in life: “Have as much fun as you can, baby.”

John continues to inspire those around him to embrace joy, adventure, and a little bit of charm every day.

In 2019, Clarice Cooper was a patient here after suffering a stroke and being in a coma. After a long recovery and with the excellent care from the nursing and therapists here, she was able to return to being fully independent. Congratulations, Ms. Cooper and thank you for allowing us to care for you!
