Nutritional Wellness Project -
Please help me reach the people who work directly with our kids. If you know a school, dance studio, gym, church group, homeschool group, or sports team that would benefit from this, please share this post and tag them. I offer this as a free service and I am currently scheduling, I just need the right contacts and a place provided for me to set up.( the families walk away with the meal plan and the recipes included.)
I also use a real life example the kids instantly understand. I point out that my husband has big muscles, which means his âspongeâ is bigger. Because of that, his body can handle carbohydrates better. The goal is not just eating healthy, it is building strong, healthy bodies. The more muscle we have, the better our body can use the food we eat. So I teach them how to eat well and also encourage them to move, train, and stay active.
Sundayâs childrenâs seminar was a full hour of hands-on demonstrations and honestly this is why I love doing it.
In the video youâll see the sponge demonstration. I explain to the kids that food doesnât just disappear after we eat it. Some of what we eat gets used by the body, but whatever the body cannot properly use has to go somewhere. So we talked about the two buckets.
One bucket is body fat.
The other bucket is the things you cannot see. I even put an eyeball on it so they remember. That bucket can be high blood sugar, cholesterol, inflammation, and other internal problems that donât show up on the outside yet.
At the beginning we also talked about money. I teach them calories like a bank account. You have a certain amount you can spend. If you stay within your budget your body runs well. When you constantly go over budget, the overflow goes into one of those two buckets. The sponge helps them SEE it instead of just hearing words.
The kids were engaged, laughing, and participating the whole time. They didnât just sit and listen. They understood. Sometimes one simple visual can change how a child thinks about food forever.
I also want to say Iâm so sorry to the families who messaged last minute about sickness in the home. I truly hope everyone is feeling better and on the mend.
